before I thought it wasn't that good, had **** beer, and the floor was the slippiest venue surface ever(maybe those two are connected)

but after seeing Dropkick Murphy's there I would definatly go back for a band like the

sound is pretty poor if you are any further back than the mixing desk, stage is way too small for the band to even move, it gets too hot.... etc. i wish they'd stop having decent gigs there.

it's harder for the band to move when there's 30 ppl on the stage with the band :D

Yeah, now that I see it that way I agree with you. The whole design of the place though is very nice.

I have to say I don't like The Village. The place just isn't wide enough, or something. I can't put my finger on it.

It suffers greatly - as Mono and the Mean Fiddler did before it - from the dumb situation of the toilets behind the stage, so you have to elbow your way through the crowd to get to them.

Also the drinks are diabolically expensive which I really can't stand.

In my view Vicar Street is by far the best Dublin venue, although it was better before they enlarged it.

must say imo its the best smallish dublin venue to play at. stage is a nice size and the onstage sound is excellent, a few dead spots though. we played there back in june and it was possibly the happiest i've been on stage thats why we're going back there next thurs... cough cough :D

I've only been there once, and wasn't impressed. I saw the Jimmy Cake and the sound was awful.

Only been there once to see Jamie Lidell and I thought it was pretty good. But then again there wasn't too many people there. Next big gig there is Q-Bert in a couple of weeks....
