Could any one tell me one of the first turn based strategy games created. I'm doing some research for a project i'm doing and the earliest game i have is Civ 1, that was released in 1991. Is there any other turn based games before that?

I found a list of all the major releases from '91 - '03. Civ 1 is the very first one and it ends with Civ 3. I don't doubt that it was a ground breaking game when it first came out but i think there might have been a predecessor to it.
I'm creating my own turn based game for college so i just wanted to give a brief history of turn based games as an introduction in some of my documentation.

you mean for the PC? Or do you mean the first turn based strategy game on a computer? I'd say it was tic tac toe :), then prolly chess, prolly in the 60's. Shouldn't be too hard to find out.

There were plenty of turn based strategy games on the early home computers, like the spectrum and the c64 as well, round the mid 80's for those.
