mine was cut off as soon as i ordered the new one, wasnt watching ITV CHAN4/5 then anyway because of the annoying warning banner that kept appearing every 30 seconds. ive got my new card and everything is great.

    hi all,

my original card began 006 i dont really thinks it makes any difference what the serial number is , they seem to cut off the channels by region rather than card codes, could be wrong though. leaving the cards out of the box wouldn't have made any difference because they are timed out, the next time you would have put the cards in your boxes the channels would have been cut off.

My UK contact has moved (he's still in the UK) so I can't use the web based form. Will hang tough with my P2 card for a while. If that goes, I'll definately get at least one new one. Can't be not having Ch4.

Its exactly five years since the first P1 card was issued.
I hope I won't have to change my P2 card for at least another five years.;)

    Mine's gone too :(

I can't really be bothered with all the hassle of getting a p2 just for channel 5.

I hope that in five years FTV cards will be un-necessary.

I take it you don't like ITV and Channel 4.:D

your new card will expire on the 31st of december 2005, sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

    Taken from free2view.tv FAQ
How long will the cards last?
The cards will last until Sky organises its next card swap-out. No-one knows when this will be as this is contingent on security considerations for the digital satellite platform. The first generation cards have lasted five years. If Sky carries out a card swap-out before the end of 2005, it has undertaken to take such measures as are necessary to ensure that customers who have purchased a second generation card from the Free to View service will continue to be able to view ITV1, Channel 4 and Five via their satellite system until the end of 2005.

As stated, above in the FAQ, no one knows how long the cards will last for. It is entirely up to Sky. The card security could be hacked tomorrow requiring all cards to be replaced straight away or they might not ever change them again. The December 2005 date is just the point that you will be able to get a replacement card free of charge if you purchase one now.

I do wish people would read the documents before making statements as above.
