    I'm thinking of buying it, and I was just wondering if anyone here has it. Is it much good, worth the money? etc....

    Here is a link to the product... http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/gfx5frmst.html

    Jesus any sound engineer of a gig you haven't run is going to tell you to get that monstrosity off stage. :)

    Nah, It's just all the messing that is associated with them, people on stage have them set up arseways and all the "great effects" are not all level, and don't sound well through the PA's.

    Of course, if they took the time, and cut down on the amount of effects they think the need, it should be alright.

    Hmm... Well I'm not in a band myself at the moment. It's more or less for messing about with. The only pedal's I have at the moment is a switch pedal and Boss MetalZone. Plus the fact that I don't have a PA!

    Giblet are u sayin u wouldnt recommend gigging with a multi effects pedal? I was gonna buy a digitech GNX 1 to use with my marshall MG100DFX and jackson warrior - is this a bad idea?

    Just spend some time setting the thing up and you'll be fine, and make sure they will be handled correctly in a live setting. Double up guitars using an Octave setting to add some Bass for example, is a bad Idea. Tremolo on the other hand, can sound excellent, or delay,wah,light chorus,
    some modulation effects. Just not these over blown stupid sounding bassy effects, or ones that are incoherant. I've heard it so many times in gigs.

    People would never set them up right either, so you would get different volumes for every effect, which the engineer would try compensate for, only to get the ears blown off him when you decide to use "Super Bass Distortion with Heavy Chorus and Panning effects"

    - I own a Zoom GFX-8, its decent enough apart from the compressor options.

    I agree multi fxs are hard to set up for gigs. I would advise having someone help you - you play the guitar while they adjust/save the volume on each setting. There's too much stopping and starting on your own and you can lose concentration. Personally tho I still pefer them over pedals. Heres why;

    1. I used to own lots of cool pedals like Rotovibes, Micro Synths etc... problem is you have to adjust their settings each time you want to change sounds back and forth for different songs, while with a multi fx you simply save them in diffrerent banks and they're saved forever.

    2. I felt like a dancing bear at times trying to switch on/off 2 or 3 pedals for solos etc. I'm crap enough without having to think about all that stuff.

    3. I always forgot to pull out the leads and the batteries went flat:(

    Cheers
    Neil
