Survivor Series 2003 - My take on it.

**DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU RECORDED AND HAVENT SEEN YET**

Wasn't anything really horrible about it, just nothing really there to keep my attention... Here's my take on it.

Opening Match: Team Lesnar V Team Angle.

What in the blue hell? I agree with Cena here, the PPV is backwards and the main event is on first! Hardcore Holly is gone before the bell even rings! Who pissed in Brian Hebners coffee then? One minute later, Gay Train and Bradshaw are also gone! Nathan Jones and Matt Morgan have done credible here. Angle does very little in the match (due to his neck being blown out) and is gone less than three minutes from when he entered the ring!. Lesnar taps to Benoit, he's gone and not so happy about it meanwhile Cena nails Big Slow with the chain and then the FU on it. Leaving Benoit and Cena the survivors. Shake of hands afterwards to set the record straight for the botched turn on Smackdown. (Which i believe they edited out for the taping, but Cole let it slip during commentary). Yeah I know i left some bits out, trust me, i got the good stuff and left out the crap.

    Lita V Molly Holly.
Due to the green tint in the television i was watching this on, Molly Holly looks like a freak out of a Marilyn Manson video. I couldn't help humming "The Beautiful People" for most of this match. Snorefest of a match that ends with Molly ripping off the second turnbuckle (?!) and Lita going face first into it. Would someone tell me why Lita no longer exposes the thongs anymore?

    Ambulance Match: Kane v Shane
Oh get it over with already! How many more times do we have to see this feud! Match is practically nothing as it goes to the outside in seconds. A couple of minutes later we see Shane hitting Kane from the top and through the Spanish Announce table. Shane does a legger to the backstage and Kane follows, only to nailed a few times with a Kendo stick and get scuttled by a pickup. He calls for an ambulance and one arrives at the speed of a lada! Kane no sells it and brings Shane back to the outside and proceeds to throw him into the ambulance a few times. Shane then hits a Tornado DDT, a few bin lids shots. Shane drags the cardboard box of doom onto kane and dives off the ambulance into it. Into the ambulance, Kane shoves shane to the outside, Tombstone, Sayonara! I could have lived without this. Definitely not Shane's finest hour.

Pointless segmants about Lesnar tapping and a boring-ass interview with Coach and the leader of some loser Dallas american footy team, which ends with a shoving match between Bischoff and the 14 year old giant. Randy Orton comes from behind and nails Cuban. Can we get back with the program please?

    Basham Brothers V Los Guerreros.
Sorry I asked! Bashams coming out in S&M gear make the pizza inside of me repeat itself. Disappointing match using the same tactics that they used to split the Rockers up in 1991. Chavo accidently nails Eddie to cost them the match. You can sense the heel turn coming, but the bookers just proceed to TEASE!. Bleh

    Team Austin V Team Bischoff.
No seperate introductions. Given the time they took for them to do this on the Smackdown elimination match, i reckon this is a good move. Too long to recap so lets get to the meat of the match. Mark Henry is eliminated after a 3D and RVD frog splashes him and then the Duds and RVD PILE UP to get the pin. Adding some comedy value I guess. Michaels is in and blades right away and it looks vicious! It boils down to a three on one. Michaels V Orton, Jericho and Christian. Christian out first from the Sweet Chin Music. Jericho is next after Michaels gets the knees up for the Lionsault. Nasty chairshot from Jericho to Michaels afterwards leaving us one on one with Orton and Michaels. Which went well until Bischoff and Austin got involved. Austin chases Bischoff off but Batista runs in, powerbomb and welcome to Smackdown, Steve! Austin bores us with a speech gacking on about how his career started in Dallas and he's proud that it ended in Dallas. What is this? A bloody soap opera?!

Buiried Alive: Underseller Vs Vince McMahon.
Cole tells us there was Four buiried alive matches. FOUR OF THEM? I only remember the first one!! Anyway Vince gets destroyed by Taker for most of the match until he drags him to the grave as McMahon takes a nice shot with the shovel. McMahon comes back with a low blow and before you know it, both of them are in the grave. Taker comes back to climb into the JCB but an explosion sets him back down. Kane comes out of the digger, pulls McMahon out of the grave. Kane knocks Taker into the grave as McMahon pours the dirt into the grave and the win to set up the dream match *cough* at Wrestlemania. It didn't work five years ago lads, it's not gonna work now!

    Triple H V Goldberg:
Spear before the match even starts. I'm not even gonna make an effort with this. Back and forth until Evolution interfere. Goldy goes postal with a sledgehammer Another spear, Jackhammer, seeya. Yeah, surprised me as well.

Not the worst PPV of the year but definately nowhere near the best.

    Opinions?

It was relegated to Heat due to time constraints. I didn't catch it, myself and my mate were down at a garage in Fairview doing a munchie run. From what i gather from Cole's commentary, Tajiri won due to interferance from one of his ninja mafia heels.

Looks like Taker V Kane again, that ship has sailed they need something new for them. Glad to see them get rid of Austin I'm sick of him and all his talk.

seen it last night and was plesently disappointed. Not saying the word bad but the mane events sd elimination match and raw elimination match were on too early.

sd elimination very good match they got rid of the baggage early (a-trane bradshaw) holly not in for to long but took it to lesner i had the feeling lesner wasnt selling he was actually getting hurt. Benoith got a grate pop and a cleen victory over the champ so a title shot looks emenent. After hearing angle reingered his neck i was looking to see how many bumps he would take and seen the best seuplexes all taken on the shoulder (amesing site when you know what your looking for). A hell of a FU an the ape and a US title shot for cena

wimens match wasnt all that interisting and no suprise lita didnt win, the return from career tretining ingary to come back and win the title has been done to death.

    ambulence match
    no expectatons no disapointments!!!!
on its own it was a grate match but with the legasy shane has left he will have to kill himself to get a pop (this is the problim with extreme matches i watched sadu terry funk in barbed wire and didnt flince once) good match just try and watch it with no expectations

they had to get the oner of the bilding over

    bassioms Vs los guerreros
good but nothing you wouldnt see on sd apaet from siniquia getting hit but thats because i watch sky ones sd. good turnado ddt to nock out eddie

    raw elimimation match
now no offence to rvd and booker t im gooing to say they gut through the sh1te and it was a three on one and a hell of a match. a well told story very exciting and im sorry i said hbk was dead, long live hbk he still knows how to make an entertaning match. best match of the night and i think stone cold is gone for good (except wmxx)

    Undertaker Vs vince
good to see the btood spraying from vinces face the ending sucked donkey dich and it was killing tazz to cominatate on it kane hit taker with one punch and taker lay in the grave for 2 minates wile vince droped the durt. (what did vince do on sara anyone know) i know of taker Vs stone cold, Taker Vs mankind, and Taker Vs vince, but cant tink of a 4th one are they counting stone colds funeral on raw?

    mane event my a-hole
    HHH Vs goldberg
the mane event was raw elimination and stone colds good bye speach. no suprises here if you taught HHH was going to take the title back whenever he wanted it shame on you, how much creddit do you give vince goldberg ant loosing this title in a hurry.
It wasnt a grate match but it did its job it made goldberg look like a champ and not someone whos holding the belt till hhh returnes

all round opinion good but not grate mane event first and 5th.
too mutch expectation from now on im watching wrestling with no expectation and no disappointments

Taped it so I only saw it yesterday after work!
    Hmmm!
    The Angle (Cena) V Lesner???
Fastest SS match ever I reckon!

    Shane/Kane - Boring

Couldn't watch Basham Bros V Los Buritos!

Team Austin V Team Bitchoff - Better than I hoped. Micheals looked f*cked! and coach got his ass whopped! Will we see Austin on SD? Hope so

Taker V Vince - No comment!

Goldberg V HHH - Pleasently suprised

    All in All average!

The four buried alive matches are:

    Undertaker vs. Mankind--Oct. 20, 1996
Undertaker vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin--Dec. 13, 1998
    Mankind & The Rock vs. Undertaker & Big Show--Sept. 9, 1999

and the one at survivour series

overall SS gets a "meh" rating from me - not great, but not bad, somewhere in the middle

Lita vs Molly - fell asleep for all of this match and when I watched the tape I was glad I did, Lita just plainly sucks as a wrestler - poort Molly tried to drag a good match out of her. My fav moment was Lita missin her moonsault

Cena was the man for team angle, especially with his intro rap.

Was quite disgusted that Noble/Tajiri was put on Heat, so we could "enjoy" Coach, and other pointless segments throughout the night

Goldberg/HHH should not have been the main event

Shane O Mac - he better be off my screen for the next year atleast - rumour has it the wrestlers backstage are mightly annoyed that he was able to take such a beating and yet still continue to wrestle.

Props to Kane for the unprotected face shots with the ambulance door

McMahon and HBK are now the Kings of Blading in WWE at the moment, especially Vince, loverly and over done blade job.

    Bashams/Gurreros - enough said

Yeah, because jumping onto a cardboard box is so life threatening! ;)
Am I the only one who thinks Shane McMahon is overrated? I mean, he can't wrestle. He can take 50 foot dives aaand thats it.

And one he becomes a daddy, you can kiss all that goodbye! :)

Watched it all and the first thing that came to find was 'predictable' no upsets no suprises.

    Tagiri - Noble (On heat)
O.K. match with interference from Akio and Sato getting Tagiri the win. (6/10) (What is Vinces problem with the cruiserweights?)

    Team Angle - Team Lesner
The deadwood cut early, OK showing from Morgan and Jones, Cena steals the show. (7/10)

    Molly - Lita
Predictable match where Lita showed how rusty she still is. (5/10)

    Kane - Shane
Hopefully Shane will now stay away and start his own lame stunt show. Kane took some big hits (Esp the Ambulence door) (5/10)

    Bashems - Gurreroes
Another step in Chavos heel turn, O.K match but nothing new.(6/10)

    Team Bishoff - Team Austin
Not a bad match as elimination matches go, fair dues to HBK he's still the showstopper(7/10)

    Vince - Taker
Worth it just to see McMahon cut to bits, no real suprise again with a crap screw job ending.(6/10)

    Goldberg - HHH
Again I wasn't really suprised, they'll wait another month before putting the belt on HHH. (5/10)

Overall it was O.K maybe a (6/10) a few surprises on the night might have been good. The only good thing is maybe now the MacMahon's will quit wrestling matches for a while.

Have to agree, Shane isn't a wrestler all he does is perform some minor stunts. Its still my major gripe I want to see the damn wrestlers wrestle!

You're not gonna believe this, but that was shafted to make time for that Coach/Bischoff/Cuban segment!!

Yet again, WWE creative with their heads stuck up their ass!

i agree there hardly going to bring back the badass after being buried alive. dosent the deadman coming back from the dead sound a little more likely

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,713 ✭✭✭Cianan2

Well,he was buried alive...so he'd be dead by now....so he shall return as the deadman,i do believe. I don't think this will work very well, unless taker doesn't do promos and all and if Paul Bearer returns. I think it will mean more to the character if He has the fat old maan to represent him, rather than go solo.

Erm, didn't he return as American Badass after Buried Alive III? Claiming that he no longer dresses like Satan, but he's still down with the Devil?

Either that or it's just the fact that the predictable recycling of angles and matches is rearing it's ugly head again.

I cant see him NOT returning as the dead man. Its the perfect angle in the eyes of the writers "the dead man arises to take care of the evil force known as KAne"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,461 ✭✭✭NeroTheExtreme

    Being honest, it's a 50/50 shot.
50 for because: It would seem like an obvious thing to do before he retires.
50 against because: It would seem like the obvious thing to do, and we know how creative loves to screw over the smart marks ;)

It's all up in the air. Me personally i can't see him coming back as deadman. Considering he ditched it because he was bored of it and wanted to play a character more like himself in the first place. And it really doesn't make sense when he lost Buried Alive III as deadman and came back as The BadAss.
