Hi I have a Mobile home in Achill, Co. Mayo and also a spare sky digital dish with a unbranded digital decoder i used to use for hotbird channels. Can anyone tell me the following?

    1. Is the dish big enough for Achill island (will i need bigger)

    2. Will i be able to get FTA BBC and sky news etc on decoder?

    3. I have a satellite finder meter, with this is it hard to align the dish or would i be better off getting it down professionally

    4. If so anyone know any good dish installer near Achill ISland Co Mayo?

    Tks,

    Dwayne

I'm not a expert but the dish should be fine and if its a digital decoder it should be find for the bbc and sky and it would save you a lot of hassel to get it done by a pro

probably ok although you dont actually specify what size it is

Yes also quite a few of the $ky pack channels are actually FTA including most of the news, shopping, religion channels some of the specialist ones e.g. classics TV BEN etc and some of the "filler" ones (TXT me, Live TV etc)

    3. I have a satellite finder meter, with this is it hard to align the dish or would i be better off getting it down professionally
If your meter is any way good it shouldnt be too difficult

Let us know how you get on, from the website it sounds easy to do a self install. But, in reality it may be more difficult.

Its easy to do a self install with a meter. You dont need a bigger dish than the normal sky as i found out last week. I know as i live in achill myself.

Dont have a meter meself but got a guy around to do it we had it done in a bout an hour or two. All you need is a general direction to aim whihc is easy just look where evryone else dish is pointing and offf you go.

I noticed taht the BBC and RTE do break up more easily but thats to do with the satellite there are on.
