Lip piercing

I am thinking of getting my lip pierced on my bottom lip in the center and having a ring over the lip instead of a spike. I was wondering if the piercing goes in straight through the tissue underneath the lip or does it go through at an upward angle to help miminise gum erosion:confused: .
Any one`s experiences or opinions on this would be much appreciated.

My lip ring was pierced at a slight angle, allthough I have seen some that were pierced straight (allthough they might have previously been labret piercings (aka the spike), i never really asked), but with the small size of the ring, and the height of the placement it should never touch your gums either way its pierced. All you should worry about really is tooth chipping (which has never happened to me with this or anyone else i know) :D

My lip piercing was done straight as far as I'm aware. Advice...get the stud put in and leave it in until it heals and then put the ring in. I was given that advice by my piercer (Kevin in Celestial Ring) and I'm glad I did it. I tried putting the ring in before it healed and it hurt like hell after a day coz the hole was being stretched a bit. It healed after 3 months and I've had the ring in for nearly 2 years.
Gum erosion, nah. Shouldn't do any damage there.
Enjoy your piercing if you get it! I love mine!

The labrette, spike, or bar piercing is actually done at a different place to the lip piercing. The lip piercing is under the lip.

I've had one for a few years, just took it out the other day. Did have any problems with rubbing off my Gums, though it did wear down my upper teeth a little, but I have a bit of an overbite, it's not a big deal.

    Any other Qs?

Lip piericng is higher than a labret piercing.

The angle at which it is pierced at depends on the individual.

My lip ring went through at an angle due to the size of the ring but I'd imagine it depends on who does it.
