Veritas BE Problems

Anyone out there using Veritas Backup Exec V9 in a SAN environment?
We've had it for almost 3 years now and its giving nothing but trouble!
    Various problems occuring including:
-Hardware issues (I/O errors, Timeouts etc)
-Remote Agent/Job engine errors causing backups to fail.

Its fair to say at this stage that we cannot be sure if we'll have any successful backups on any given day. Most of our servers are mission critical.

We originally had V8.5 then V8.6.

We moved to V9 in the Spring. (managements decision despite my reservations about it). The SP is recommending going to the latest build of V9 to resolve issues. Has anyone else taken this step? Any feedback?

Anyone else using this s/w and experiencing these problems?
Any better Backup s/w you'd recommend?

    All feedback welcome!

Yes, I'm using said backup in said environment. I'm not surprised your having trouble with it. I'd recommend a Microsoft replacement program.

    We've since moved to 9.1.

Managements decision to go with Veritas BE.
Anyway. I was under the impression that NetBackup was for Large Corporations?:dunno:

netbackup doesnt have to be for large enviroments, it has a business level tier thats fairly affordable.

Can you tell me a little more about your problems and a quick summary of the enviroment. My company recently found a few weaknesses in BUE that we have work arounds for ...sO just might be able to help
