Hi I have an interview next week for a Junior NT admin position, basically looking after the servers.

I have a lot of experience with stand alone PC's and I have some experience of servers.

Just wondering if anyone had advice on what I should know and any good links to info I might need.

I am a registered poster with over 700 posts but some of my fellow employees know that ID belongs to me and well you can never be too careful, just incase someone thought I had just registered to get info.

servers are just bigger Pc's with special abilities.
know about specific server hardware like raid, scsi, ecc ram and all that rubbish
know about back ups and backup rotation
    know about terminal services
know about ip ranges, and administration of NT
know about DNS, DHCP, routers, gateways and switches.
know what an application server and file server is.
    know about exchange servers.
know about all that good stuff and you wil be fine :)

As WWM said, Servers are just slightly bigger PC's..

The level you say you're going in at, a junior role, wil probably
more than likely be one of day to day house keeping on the
servers, backups, setting up/deleting user accounts, updating
anti virus and the odd hardware upgrade/replacement..

Make sure you know some of the terms, RAID 0 and RAID 5,
    SCSI, DLT's, DAT's etc..

Its a Junior role so chances are for the first few months they just
want to know that you're capable of not doing anything stupid
that will cause a server crash and are capable of learning.

Before they let you near anything, chances are they will have
someone watching your every move until they know this.

Dont be nervous and dont claim to know something you dont as
this will catch you out, if you have some knowledge of it, then say
this and the same goes for something you dont have knowledge..

Believe me, honestly is a big thing as your not working with PC's
anymore and if a server goes down because you claim to know
something you dont have a clue of and crash a server as a result
it wont impress them one bit

Best of luck with it anyway...

If it's a junior role - maybe it's best to show off the fact that you are highly interested in the technology, that you are a self-learner and motivated so, that you have the willingness to learn new things and that you are enthusiastic (sp)! I think those will sell you more than bleatherin on with acroynms that you will pick up within 2 weeks of starting the job! :)
    Best of luck!
