Are people who are lucky all the time just optimists?

Interesting question. I'd like to think of myself as optimistic but I've never been very lucky- in winning stuff or anything like that.
You can lookat luck in lots of ways, just being healthy and doing well in collee is lucky I guess. So is winning the lotto. It's all relative to your own situation.

It's all about perception, what do you percieve luck is?.

Im a chronic pessimist, to the state where its actually a problem. Yet i have had bouts of unbelievable luck... so no.

I'd consider myself very lucky. cool stuff seems to keep happening to me.

To some degree, its your view on it though.

Luck is where planning and oppurtunity meet.

Really do make your own luck, ie finding 20 blips on the street ,if you werent walking and looking at that time you wouldnt have found it.

Winning the lotto you have to play it to win it.

Scoring a freaky deflected goal in a game ,you had to swing for the ball and your intention was for it to go in ,how it goes in is irrelevant.

luck is like an infection, some people 'suffer' from it a lot, some are more healthy and dont get lucky that much.

    similiar to the common cold.

i dont think luck exists. i think its just another concept made up so that people can say, 'he got lucky on that one' instead of his skill worked for him there.....

Luck can be summed up mathematically.

I'm a realist, with optimistic tendancies.

Luck wise, I get a fair share of good luck/chance/intervention from the universe in some form or another.

I'd say if I was alwas lucky I'd be an optimist. don't know if being an optimist wouldmake me feel/be/think I am lucky though.

There was a woman on Winning Streak whose sister had been on the show two months previously and had won a car. The woman on the show went on to win a car and a load of money as well....

    Perhaps luck is genetic...

My sisters won a good few things...

Perhaps I should hang around with her more....

    It's unlucky to be superstitious.

I'd agree with KdjaC - Luck is where planning and oppurtunity meet.

you have to put yourself in a position where the unexpected can happen, be in that bar, buy that lotto ticket, etc.

Random quantum fluctuations in the space-time continuum.

Stuff that happens, happens. Some is good, some is not so good.

Your mood at the time will probably determine whether you notice the good/bad stuff happening.

    Think about it.

Do you have to talk so vulgarly, hmm? You remind me of Chatterton.

Oh my giddy aunt, it's a long time since I thought about him. I don't think he ever asked about the time-space continuum like you, dear.

And the Brigadier certainly knew better than to ask, bless poor Alistair's Avalonian heart.

Now the space-time continuum, eh? Well let me tell you. Care for a jelly baby? No? I find them a wonderful stimulus for temporal physics. The space continuum is about the intricate bonding of space - the three dimensions - and time, the fourth dimension.

The continuum is sort of like the layer beneath the universe. It's what I travel through, although that's an absurd simplification.
Oh please do some attention - you're worse than young Adric! I may have this young crickeeter's body but I have an old mind and not the patience of youth anymore!

As I was saying it's all around you, and yet you can't see. What do you mean I'm unclear? Have you any idea how detailed this explanation is child! I ought to strangle you right where you are, just like I did with that impetuous Peri!

No, no that's not right. I should teach you but not directly. You won't learn that way. I should intead engineer events to teach you. Make you face those childhood fears so you'll greater appreciate what's in front of you. Manipulative? No, there's worse out there. Somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea's getting cold. C'mon spooiirrt!! we've got work to do.

I think luck how you percieve it. I work 48hrs a week (12hr night shifts) and go to college during the day, my fiancee is working almost the same and we never get to spend proper time with our young child. Am I lucky, I think so, some people might not think so. (I don't win anything though, effin lotto, why can't they just give me the money?). So I think that's its how you percieve you life that decides whether you are lucky.
