As the title suggests, I'm looking for someone to take me on for a 6 month work placement between March and September of next Year.

I'm currently doing an Applied Computing course in WIT, and would like to get as much relevant experience as possible. This could include system analysis, system administration, database management/design, programming (using either Java/C++ or, at a push, PERL).

Basically, I just want to know if theres anyone out there that could offer me something somewhere that could possibly fit that mould. Ideally I would love to work abroad, in Britain especially, but Cork/Dublin/Belfast/Galway etc would be fine too :).

    CV available on request.

I did that course....when I was in third year the college had enough placement positions arranged to provide for almost all the students....I take it that's no longer the case? How many positions are bing advertised in the college these days/

Yeah, there are fewer companies wanting to take on students for placements this year. You still have the usual suspects, like AIB, Hibernian Life etc taking on a few, but generally the downturn in the market has taken it's effect.

It's not too bad though, only a few last year missed out, and did a college project for the 6 month period instead.

Well if all else fails the U Bend in my toilet is giving a bit of hastle....drop me a PM if you're interested.

On the serious side. If you're looking for something more challenging you should try Microsoft. I did my placement there and its gold dust man....proper gold dust. http://www.microsoft.com/ireland/Jobs/Studentinterns.asp?txtDIVID1=0&txtDIVID2=0&txtDIVID6=0&txtDIVID7=0&txtDIVID8=0&txtDIVID10=0

At Microsoft, we’re developing the future – and the future is .net. It’s the technology that will not only change the way we develop applications, it will also enable the creation of all kinds of new possibilities. In fact, it’s so big it’s going to change the world. And developing it is going to be the biggest kick in the history of software.

    Did you read that page?

Yes Microsoft you go develop 'The Future' - leave some for me too.

Oh please, unspecified deity, no! No more dim statements!

Work placement in MS is probably good. I wouldn't be able to stop myself referring to it as the evil empire every day though.
