    how easy is it to honey pot a machine, and in my case, how do i go about it , and can you suggest any software that can take readsing such as ip address, its part of of my disertation.

    You will want to look into Snort and TCP Dump. Snort.org and do a search for TCPDump. www.espion.ie run irish honeynet / honeypot. They have stats and guidelines regarding there data harvesting efforts...
