Well first let me clarify it, as according to Jackson:
The reason he's not in the THEATRICAL release is that Jackson felt the Sauraman storyline was finished in "The Two Towers" and wanted to concentrate on the rest of the storyline. His scenes WILL be shown - in the Extended Edition.
Personally, I think it's a mistake and wouldn't be surprised if some idiot producer told him to chop the scenes so that audiences wouldn't be confused  Not surprisingly Christopher Lee is rightly pissed off. I think it's a mistake but we'll see how it pans out.

just don't let it be another matrix, its a real shame he won't be in it, i thought he was a great character, but there is so much missing already from the films and i still think they are among the best films ever made. think a bit more trust is needed in peter jackson. ... then again if he ruins it we'll get him good:ninja:

I'm willing to give Jackson the benefit of the doubt on this one. I'd have love to have seen the scenes with lee, but jackson hasnt done too much wrong so far. Hopefully those extra 7 minutes will be put to good use, coz if he wreaks this film i will be very very disappointed:)

Tis a bit maddening alright. Hope it's still as good as the previous two films without Saruman. :(

Read the book - if you've got a machete to hack through the appalling prose.

A petition has been setup from a fan site - http://www.christopherleeweb.com/

    Petition here

Won't do bugger all, but sure why not?

    I trust Peter Jackson...

There's a line in that petition thing that says "It's only seven minutes long". That's a seriously long scene... It's the kind of scene that could **** the pacing of the film right in the hole.

I have no doubt that it is killing Jackson to cut the scene but also that it is completely necessary. We'd all love a four hour theatrical cut, but we're not going to get it and we'll just have to put up with the creative decisions of the film maker. Because he knows better than we do.

dont get me wrong, i think jackson has done an amazing job at making these films and im sure he wont disappoint..

however, from a film point of view and for anyone who hasnt read the books, then i think that it will be a bit of a disappointment not to see sauramon in the final film.

im willing to wait for the extended versh to see lee rock again!!

I understand that perspective... But to me it would be a bigger disapointment if there was a seven minute scene that ruins the film, pace wise. In a three hour film, pace is all important. It could make or break it.

I think Peter Jackson has made some mistakes but then again some places he's improved on the book.

Helm's Deep in my opinion was far more spectacular to see than it was to read (the battle I mean).

I've heard of some bits that have been cut out of ROTK and it's somewhat disappointing but I'm holding out for the Extended Edition. Speaking of which TTT EE is out Tuesday I think! :D

I would have liked to see the inclusion of Saruman as per the books. I thought it was very well done in the books. I don't think it would've been to hard to do in the films either but it probably would have made them longer-thus not done!

Well said!! I'd love to see the Saruman and the scouring of the Shire in RotK but Jackson knows what he's doing and the final cut is bound to be fantastic.

According to www.theonering.net , Christopher Lee said he was disappointed with his "limited number of lines". Has anyone else confirmed that he isn't in ROTK at all?

Anyway, I don't think a petition is going to do any good - all the cutting has already been done, and the reels will be being printed already.
