    Lads/Lassies,

Does anyone know the story with this:

I am trying to install red hat 9 and a few mins into the installation i get this message:

error 2 reading header: cpio: bad magic

    then it aborts the install.

I am trying to dual boot a pc and have the partitioning done correctly(i think)

the pc is pretty old PII 400MHZ, CD-ROM DRIVE ETC.

Whats the story, the cd is an original from a vendor.

Any help appreciated, at this stage the lump hammers coming out.

    Thanx

    You are not alone...

They suggest that the problem was the cds were cd-w and not cd-r's, but you say your cds are from redhat. Hmm..

if it's irish intervention you're after, sign up to the irish linux user's group (ilug) mailing list over on linux.ie and post your question there. They'll have it solved for you soon enough, mind you most of them post here too!

If you have BB just download the iso's from ftp.esat.net OR you could ask one of the linux.ie guy's who live near you to give you a copy of their cds. Linux.ie does that :)
