    I'm not being smart but were there no instructions with the motor, there should be some tables which tell you elevation and declination angles for your location. Best satellite to set up on is 8w which should be the highest satellite ie when the motor is at the centre.

    got the same motor yesterday joe, wont work with my skystar2 card or my analogue receiver which are both compatible with it. I've being trying 4 the last 2 days and havent any luck with it yet. It moves when you use the manual buttons but thats the only movement it does for me. those german instructions are 90% about the positioner box that u can get but u dont need that if your receiver has diseqc( well i think so and hope so!)

    Pissing rain all day so the best satellite i could get was thor 0.8W

    @Tony, both of us got them off a german site so i suppose u cant really expect english instructions

    next time spend a little more money ( maybe 5 euro) and buy it from someone local or at least someone who gives you an english instruction book.
    With a bit of luck you might also get two 'right angled ' F connecters for a better install.

    Ps Go to X fuction is the same as USALS

    @seano

    I searched the net for the moteck sg2100 and couldnt find anyone who delivers to ireland. I found a review of each motor on one site which said that both motors were the EXACT same apart from the name. Even both are taiwanese companies. The instructions are in german and even if they were in english, you dont need them apart from the illustration to put the motor up.

    I have a new skystar2 card, and I read in a few forums that the stab motor will only move in one direction if you have this card, this is with the ssdiseqc pluign for skystar2. The pluign works perfectly with sg2100 as the person who made the plugin has this motor. So i ruled out the stab motor, couldnt find sg2100, and from what i saw in that review of dg-120, well i didnt think id have any problems.

    At the moment i can drive the motor east/west for a certain number of seconds, later i will stop the motor at each satellite, store the position and go to next, so its not all that bad for me, but someone with a proper receiver with diseqc it has to work

    PS: stab hh120 on german site 105euros
    stab hh120 on english site 140 sterling

    That is correct ,it is the same with the STAB.different companies buy the design and software to put their own name on it

    @seano

    the email i used to register for here doesnt work for some reason, just send me a pm

    Why do u think the diseqc plugin would work perfectly for the moteck and not 4 my motor. Would the commands that are send from my pc and the received by the motor not be the same for each model. I emailed the makers of both the plugin and makers of motor to find out.

    kaisersose77 did you ever think of getting a standalone positioner if all else fails?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,719 ✭✭✭kaisersose77

    if i ever get my dish aligned with 8W i will be fine but cant find it yet.Once its in line with that i should in theory get everything to the left and right of it. Got thor,hotbird,astra(german/french one) and sirus stored at the moment, so they'll do me for now.

    @kaisersose77 you have pm

    It might be a good idea to reset the moter because I am sure that you have by now confused it a bit.

    remember only search and save a satellite if you are sure it is the proper satellite.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,719 ✭✭✭kaisersose77

    What i was trying to say was my longitude is 7.9W, so the satellite true south of me is 8W, if i can get this, then i should be able to get every other satellite in its arc. However, the best i got so far was 0.8W, so the satellites i mentioned were the ones i got in 0.8Ws arc.

    Im only new to satellite stuff, and i saw the plugin for diseqc before i ordered my motor. I have attached a screenshot of this program and from this you will see what i thought i would be able to do with my motor.

    Readme for ssdiseqc:

    DiSEqC 1.2 for SkyStar2 v1.5

    Instructions:

    I have modified function in SkyNET.sys which is called when tuning the tuner and which is responsible for setting DiSEqC. In the original version only various LNB can be set (Write Port Group E0 10 38 xx).
    In the modified version, it's possible to use any DiSEqC command in the length of 3-8 bytes. This command must be somehow delivered to the driver. For this purpose SS2DiSEqC.ese is used.
    SS2DiSEqC buttons are used for making DiSEqc 1.2 command easier and after pressing the appropriate button, the command is sent to the driver.
    The driver will execute this command immediatelly.

    And now the detailed description how to make it run
    ===================================================

    SKYNET.SYS
    - Save old SkyNET.sys from windows\system32\drivers directory
    - Copy new SkyNET.sys to windows\system32\drivers directory
    - Restart PC or in My Computer-> Hardware->Device Manager->Network Adapters->B2C2 ... Disable and Enable driver

    ProgDVB, MyTheatre
    - Copy SS2DiSEqC.exe, SS2DiSEqC.dll & directory Satellites to directory ProgDVB or/and MyTheatre\Plugins
    - Run your ProgDVB (MyTheatre) and tune any channel on your favourite satellite
    - Select plugin SS2DiSEqC->Configure (you can Drag&Drop directory Transponders to SS2DiSEqC main window in ProgDVB)
    - Set your correct Longitude,Latitude and H-H Motor Range and Goto x.x° support etc.

    H-H Motor with support Goto x.x°
    - Press 'Auto Goto x.x°', theoretical positions are computed for all satellites
    - Try 'Goto x.x' East 10°, if doesn't work East driving change 'East Fix' and repeat attempt
    - Select your tuned satellite in list and press 'Send', motor is driving
    - If no signal ocurres use 'Goto x.x°' button with some increments (some functional channel have to be tuned in ProgDVB, MyTheatre)
    - For getting maximal signal press 'Max signal' and modify position
    - Press 'Auto Goto x.x°' again and use current satellite as referential, all satellite positions are corrected
    - Select other satellite in SS2DiSEqC and press 'Send', motor is driving to new position
    - Try 'Max Signal' with finding the strongest transponder, if new position are different save it
    - Repeat this two steps for any satellite and fine tune right position
    - Close SS2DiSEqC
    - Now if you select new channel from other satellite, H-H motor is driving

    H-H Motor without support Goto x.x°
    - Select your tuned satellite in list
    - Press 'Drive motor East/West' witk step eg. 10° and try find the signal (some functional channel have to be tuned in ProgDVB, MyTheatre)
    - For getting maximal signal press 'Max signal'
    - Use 'Store nn' with ascending counter for saving to the motor's memory
    - Use 'Goto nn' with current position and press 'Modify'
    - Repeat this steps for all satellites until motor's memory isn't full
    - Close SS2DiSEqC
    - Now if you select new channel from other satellite, H-H motor is driving

    How to install the H-H motor correctly:
    1. Make sure that mounting pole is exactly vertical to the Earth before installation.
    2. Fix H-H motor onto the mounting pole and attach Antenna dish to the motor (drive motor to 0 position before instalation, dish has to be at the center
    of mounting tube).
    3. Rotate the motor together with antenna toward TRUE SOUTH (you can use time from SS2DiSEqC 'True South' and Sun's shadow for right setting).
    4. Set Elevation Angle of the motor (use 'Elevation' from Cofiguration)
    5. Set Angle of the Dish (use 'Declination' from Cofiguration). See motor documentation.
    6. Use SS2DiSEqC and DVB Prog to drive motor to satellite nearest South.
    7. If no signal, rotate the motor together with antenna for fine settings.

    Sending DiSEqC commands programatically:

    1. You have to get 'NetCfgInstanceId' value for SS2 from registry
    (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002bE10318} and subkey with 'Service'='SKYNET')
    2. Open SkyNET device: eg. NetCfgInstanceId ={ACA1F431-5351-4E59-A113-6009A7E26672}
    HANDLE ghSKY=CreateFile("\\\\.\\{ACA1F431-5351-4E59-A113-6009A7E26672}",GENERIC_READ,0,0,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0);
    3. Send DiSEqC command to driver
    if(ghSKY != INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE)
    {
    UCHAR gszCMD[32]="\xE0\x31\x68\xFE" //motor driving 2 steps to East E0 31 68 FE
    DeviceIoControl(ghSKY,0x220000,gszCMD,4,NULL,0,NULL,NULL);
    CloseHandle(ghSKY);
    }
    4. Motor is driving

    F**k me.! And heres me thinking that a dreambox takes a while to get the hang of.

    Heres your man

    buy a FTA receiver with USALs and use the computer for what it is now designed for,,interneting.

    Yeah, that would be the best approach. Better still, buy a box with LNB Loopthrough. Connect Loopthru port to the Skystar 2 (this is what I did) so when you put your box on standby, the SS2 will allow you to view the channels from the bird the box last looked at. (eg, if the last bird used by the digital box was Hotbird, then when it's put in standby, the SS2 will be able to receive Hotbird);)
