Just seen that Sky have the rights across the UK for the Heineken Cup. What about RTE do they still have the rights? or will this mean subscribing to the Sports channels?

No, I've checked up on this, the deal will not affect RTÉ's coverage of the heineken cup at all & RTÉ are expected to re-sign their existing contract with European Rugby Cup (ERC) within the next week.
