my heart was broken today when i arrived home to find my sky dish in pieces in the driveway.

With the weekend i had planned with rugby and everything. A recent storm coupled with bad positioning of the dish and really bad rusting took its toll on the dish, Its now goe to minidish heaven.

Hoiping to get a new setup tomorrow but i have no way of positioning it as it will be a self install.

Having pulled the terristerial aerial down due to the superb picture on digital i have no TV tonight.

So your symapthy please and any idea how to position a new dish to pick up astra.

P.S how much is a new dish going to cost?

    Hi irishgeo,
Sorry for your trouble. Did you look in The Golden Pages? I always use a FTA receiver with a portable TV when tuning in any satellite .Get a 80cm dish or bigger. This link miight be of help http://homepage.ntlworld.com/de.sullivan/ Oh ye keep the dish as low as possible to the ground for ease of access
Keep us informed and good luck!!!!

You should go for a 60cm Triax dish, they're much stronger than the sky dishes. They also fit onto a 2 inch mount, so they're very unlikely to move in the wind. Also I wouldn't go for an 80cm if it's only for Sky Digital, they have nearly twice the surface area of a 60cm so are much more likely to move.

Yes Triax are great and they don't rust well so far "5 years" I bought two Triax 110 cm dishes recently 40 euro each. Easy to set up yes really great!!!.

Good point!!! I've four dishes including a 1.2 meter one and never had one move. As I said keep it as low to the ground as possible!!!.

Let us know how you get on. :):):)

Just to let you know lads i am back to my sky. Got one of the handyman guys, from the area, who had a spare dish to setup a new smaller dish.
Its currently setup now with lots of spare bricks holding it in place. It will do for the weekend.

he is coming back next weekend to fix it to the wall. Its now lower to the ground and less likely to be blown away. Intend to bulit a shelter for it as well.

    Thanks for the advice though.

Phew thought the only thing i would get to see tonight was the eclispe.

I am looking forward to the ireland and liverpool game tomorrow.
