    Hiya

having a HORRIBLE problems with my IR and 7250i talking to each other. It sometimes sees the phone briefly then disconnects it almost instantly! Never gets to properly connect to phone.

    OS is XP pro.

    Any ideas?

once found a firewall was playing havoc with an ir connection on someone's laptop (think it was ZoneAlarm on NT or 98SE though and a good while back it was)

other than that - direct sunlight staturation can cause hassle (not a big problem if in ireland though!! ;))

I'm having a similar problem with my Nokia 6100 and a USB infra red dongle under Win 2k. The nokia suite s/w sees the phone and the phone appears to have made a connection but in connection manager when I try to set that connection as the actvie one, the software just hangs indefinitely and the phone's IR link starts flashing again (meaning it's lost its connection). I have the latest drivers for the dongle and the latest nokia suite. :( Do I need to change any of the infra red driver settings speed etc? any help greatly appreciated.

I too have a USB (no brand) IrDA .. I had to change the chip type in the generic driver properties to get it going satisfactorily with my 7250i/SL45. So it may be worth a try to go into the Device Manager, and get properties for your IrDA device and see if you have a drop down for the device type.
