Oh don't get me started on how crap Aerlingus is. Got a business class flight back to Dublin from Tasmania recently, like 2 months ago. The flight consisted of 3 flights, Hobart to Sidney on Qantas, Sidney to Frankfurt also on Qantas, and then Frankfurt to Dublin on Aerlingus.

Now here is what happened. The plane from Hobart to Sidney was a small 737 or something so there actually wasn't any business class seats but I was able to use the business class lounge in Hobart so that was great. I was also able to use the lounge in Sidney and the food on a long flight in business class to Frankfurt was fantastic.

When I was in Frankfurt, despite having a premium or business class seat, I wasn't allowed in the lounge cause I wasn't in the Gold Member Club which seems to be impossible to get into anyway, more on that later. And the plane is the same size as the plane I took from Hobart to Sidney except Qantas wasn't calling the front row seats premium seats and charging a fortune for it. And the food consisted of a bottle of Tipperary Mineral water which was horrible and a really really bad sandwich, like what the f***.

And after coming back, I've since discovered that only the first 2 flights of my long holiday got the frequent flyer miles off aerlingus even though they were all registered with them. So I have to send in loads of boarding passes and stuff to claim the points and for new memebers, if you don't earn more than 2000 in your first year the account will be closed. They don't even give you that many points anyway so it takes ages and lots of flights to make 2000 points and their rewards is frankly ****e.

    [/end of rant]

The plane from Hobart to Sydney and from Frankfurt to Dublin are exactly the same except Qantas wasn't making bullsh*t Premium/Business class seats to rip people off. I am ranting about the fact that Aer Lingus are money grabbing bastards who wouldn't even let me use the lounge despite the fact that I have a premium ticket. Want me to explain this in more detail? Want a diagram? Still have problems understanding what I was saying?

How is PAYING for a business class ticket (you know how much they cost?) equates to wanting everything for nothing? You work for Aer Lingus or something? Well they suck ok? If you ask me I think you're just an...ahhh what's the point. You'll probably misunderstand what's being said and take it as a compliment.

your complaint is somewhat justified, but I'll give you some advice.
Firstly when you originally booked the journey, you should have checked whether the code share offers business class on each leg, it looks like hobart to sydney was just full fare economy.
you would have been better off saving money and just doing an economy seat on that leg.

Never book a long haul trip via Aerlingus that is entirely Business class, the whole way as they always in my experience over price the Dublin part of the leg and often the other legs as well, I don't know why , but they do!

Some airlines in certain airports only give access to their lounges to those on an upper tier of a loyalty programme.
Aer Lingus is not alone in that.

BA for instance do not give access to the business lounge that they Share at Nice ( France's second biggest Airport ) to those with a business ticket.
You must have at least a silver membership of their executive club.
For to earn that you would for example have to fly Dublin - London return 8 times at a cost of about €5000.
That Lounge at Nice is tiny too and only has snacks and beer/soft drinks, so you wouldn't be missing much.

If you book Dublin London btw club with BA, you are not allowed access to the excelent BA terraces lounge unless you have a silver card, you have to make -do with the Aer lingus lounge, which while quiet is not a patch on the terraces.

With regard to the question of the thread, Aer Lingus are ok but why fly with them on the London route when for example you can get as good a service with food on Bmi and for cheaper??
A Business class ticket Dub-Heathrow is a good 50-60 Euro cheaper on Bmi than on Aerlingus when you book an Aerlingus flight via the BA website, and cheaper still than via the aer lingus site.
Aerlingus dot com charge more on their site for a flight to London on the same plane operated by themselves than BA do on the same route via BA dot com!!

Listen to Man.... he knows what he is talking about as you obviously don't......
How much was this so called Premium ticket?

I dont work for Aer Lingus or any airline but if I did I would take great care to avoid cretins like you who think just because they hold a ticket other than econ. they can take the plane home as well.

Yeah, Man does know what people are entitled to so thanks Man for that bit of info! I always thought lounge access is always a done thing for business tickers but I guess not.

As for the price of the Premium ticket. I don't know how much the AerLingus flight cost, I only know the price of the entire flight but I just did a quick check on the Aerlingus site on a flight from Dublin to Frankfurt.

    Lowest Fare is 39 euros.
    Business is 249 euros.

Now, as you clearly don't understand my annoyance with AerLingus, I'll spell it out for you. What exactly are they charging the extra for? And the website has this to say about the business class seats...

This Premier fare is fully refundable and changes are permitted. This fare product has the benefit of lounge access, increased baggage allowance and enhanced comfort on board.

I dont work for Aer Lingus or any airline but if I did I would take great care to avoid cretins like you who think just because they hold a ticket other than econ. they can take the plane home as well.

    Don't get me goin......
Thank god you'll take great care to avoid me cause I don't know how long I can last without kicking the crap out of muppets like yourself.

Thats terrible talk. A few pointers which might help you.

A Premier ticket on Aer Lingus entitles you to access premier lounges..not Gold Circle

There is a premier lounge in Dublin.

The extra gives flexible ticketing/seperate quicker ck-in /baggage delivery/more leg room on board/enhanced service on board/seperate security gate.

There are reciprocal arrangements with the members of the Oneworld Alliance
    which includes BA/Qantas/Iberia/American

You might say its not worth the extra...and you might be right...and you might not

Took my first Aer Lingus flight there on Monday. Seriously, every Ryanair flight I have been on, the landings nearly yake your fillings out. The landing on Monday was soft as the Andrex puppy wrapped up in cotton wool.On a matress.

yeh ive not flown with ryanair for ages now out of personal choice really, just dont like flying with them atall.

That plus they SAY they are flying to "Glasgow - Prestwick" when in reality prestwick is in ayrshire which is nowhere even near glasgow, a good hour or so drive away, or 2 trains and a bus into where i stay in glasgow which is the case for me...

aerlingus however fly straight into glasgow and its a case of a half hour bus home, much more convienent and the flight is usually better as i have said
