Hi all,

Looking at buying site and either direct labour block house or timber frame.

I know any number of block house folk but unfortunately know noone who has gone the timber frame route for advice.

I'm thinking circa 2400 sq ft, dormer/2 storey.

Has anyone gone the Century Home route?
Honest opinions from their personal experiences
How did the soundproffing work out with anyone who went a timber frame route?
Any others out there who timber frame ( midlands)?
Any web based sites for good timber framed plans/gallerys?

Any/all advice welcomed

Sound proofing isn't really a problem if you are building detached. It is only a marginal problem when terraced / semi-detached.

Layout isn't a problem, you can pretty much get anythign you want. check out the Building / DIY section of a good bookstore (Easons) and they should have books of plkans for under €20.

I'm in the middle of all this as well. I've had a look at a few of the manufacturers and based on what I've seen and peoples experiences, I'll probably go with Riverview in Killucan. If you want to go through any of the details, send me a PM and I'll answer anything I can.
