    Band 1
48 to 68 (or 54-87 in America) MHz (Channels A-C) no longer used in Ireland or the UK (except by cable operators)

    Band 2
87.6-107.9 MHz used in most parts of the world for FM radio although some former USSR countries still use it for TV as well

    Band 3
174-230 MHz (Channels D-J) Used in parts of Ireland for RTE 1 and 2 and Cable TV (only used for DAB Cable and two way radio in UK)

    Bands 4 and 5 470-854MHz (480-890 in America) Channels 21-69
Used in most parts of the world for terrestrial TV. (Most cable systems dont use it but some do) Nowadays generally considered to be one ("UHF") band

On the lower bands signals travel better in mountanious areas but interference (Sporodic E skip) and overcrowding is more of a a problem

Aerials for the lower bands use fewer elements but are physically much larger

T-Band (Below Band 1) S- Band (230-300Hz) and Hyperband (300-470MHz) only used by cable TV to squeeze in more channels some older TVs dont have these bands (also most TV's sold in Britain or NI dont have Bands 1 and 3 as its not used in the UK although parts of NI can get RTE on Band 3)
