Keen to get sky + but on reading quite a few forums I get the distinct impression that this technology is still a bit wonky eg

    1. Lots of problems with disk whine.

    2. Fan keeps running continuously

    3. Prgrammes keep getting missed. or cut short.

    4. Boxes reset themseleves/ often.

    5. Can't cope with clock changes to Summer/Winter time!!!

    6. Dual record is pie in the sky(pardon the pun)

    7. The 20gb hdd is far too small.

    8. U must have the sat cable connected at all times!!

In fact is there anything good about this kit and if there is can u let me know.

    Thanks.

    1. Lots of problems with disk whine.
    i dont have that problem

    2. Fan keeps running continuously
    never noticed it

    3. Prgrammes keep getting missed. or cut short.
at the start it cut a programme short so i added 5 minutes to the end of recordins and 2 minutes to the beginning in the settings. havent had a problem since

    4. Boxes reset themseleves/ often.
    hasnt happened yet

    5. Can't cope with clock changes to Summer/Winter time!!!
got mine after the clocks changed so can't comment

    6. Dual record is pie in the sky(pardon the pun)
as were most things to arrive from Sky. i remember when it took ages dor digital text to arrive. why release something that isnt ready

    7. The 20gb hdd is far too small.
this would depend on your own personal usage but you can upgrade it

    8. U must have the sat cable connected at all times!!
my Sky+ isnt going to be moving from where it is so it doesnt bother me

In fact is there anything good about this kit and if there is can u let me know.
pausing tv is a godsend plus the fact that i can see something and record something else. it has cut down arguements on what to watch in this house

    1. Lots of problems with disk whine.
Original boxes had a bit of a problem. New boxes should be fine.

    2. Fan keeps running continuously
    Same as above.

    3. Prgrammes keep getting missed. or cut short.
Never missed a programme unless there was a clash. Time can be added before and after a recording.

    4. Boxes reset themseleves/ often.
    Does not happen.

    5. Can't cope with clock changes to Summer/Winter time!!!
    Coped perfectly well.

    6. Dual record is pie in the sky(pardon the pun)
You can sort of dual record now, if you are recording something and use live pause on something else. Dual record will come at some stage.

    7. The 20gb hdd is far too small.
Equivalent to 7 E180 video tapes. I've come close to filling it, but you can always archive off to video.

    8. U must have the sat cable connected at all times!!
Why wouldn't you have the sat cable connected?

In fact is there anything good about this kit and if there is can u let me know.
Sky+ is brilliant. Once you have used it you will wonder how you managed without it.

It's actually a 40Gb hard drive that's in the Sky+ box. You must be getting confused with the fact that it is advertised as being able to store around 20 hours of programming.
