    Hearing Aid Model x:

    Offered in Rep. of Ireland
Total Sales Price (after €200 'Discount') = €1,700

    Exact Same Product:

    Purchased in Northern Ireland
    Total Sales Price = €1,050

Interesting to note that the company in the South has branches in Cork, Galway, Dublin & Belfast. The consultant for the other company in Belfast where my relative actually purchased said that the company in question would have a completely different pricing structure via their Belfast office as they wouldnt get away with that level of rip-off pricing up there.

We are all responsible to purchase intelligently and shop around but i find this particular instance bad as it preys on vulnerable people in society . ie people getting on in years..

The damn 'Hearing Aids' Rip-Off is as old as the hills. I can never understand why people do not simply apply for a hearing aid from their Health Board if they need one.

As far as I am aware, their are two choices.

    1. Free models, for those whom are entitled.
    2. Aids you have to pay for, but are a lot cheaper than those bought from private companies.

People considering the need for a hearing aid, should talk to their own GP and then their local Citizens Information Centre about how to apply for either a free aid, or a price subsidised model.

Actually what's worse is those ads on Travel channel with yer man John Carter. The volume of the ad drops and he talks in a lower voice asking if you need help to hear.

It stands out immediately cos the ads on Sky are usually loud..
