Widscreen Picture Problem

I have a Sony 28" Widescreen thats about 2.5 years old.
Up to now I have been watching DVDs and the TV signal came from Sky all with no bother.

I no longer subscribe to sky and I am back to NTL cable and thus all is in standard 4:3 box format. Only now have I have started noticing that the picture on both sides is being croppped in all different viewing modes.

The signal from my DVD in widescreen seems fine, just the TV signal is cropped. So all different programs with text that runs either side to the edge is missing bits.

It seems I am losing about an inch either side?
I presume that this has always been the problem but never noticed as most of the stuff I watched was in widescreen.

Anyone else had this problem? There seems to be no way of adjust the TV .

    Thanks in advance

Don't worry about the problem too much, it's not your tellys fault.

The problem is that ntl are currently having a problem with the sound from the analogue signal on BBC One, UTV & Channel 4. In the mean time they are teporarily sourcing the signal from digital for theese channels instead, this means that they are unable to show programmes in 14:9 widescreen.

There is a good thread about this which explains all in the ICDG Cable forum here .

It is only temporary & will hopefully be fixed soon. :)
