Theres a group of us heading over also on Friday for 3 nights.

Sparta Prague are playing on Saturday afternoon if you want to get out of the pub for a couple of hours. Its only 2 or 3 yoyos to get in.

Still waiting to hear from a couple of Irish pubs to make sure we can see the rugby match on Sunday morning. I doubt any of the local bars will have it.

Reply from the Joshua Tree pub:

we will be showing both matches in Caffreys Irish Bar, Staromestske nam. 10 (Old Town Square 10) - the most central square in Prague, and in James Joyce The Irish Pub in Liliova street 10 - in the centre as well, close to the Charle's Bridge.

The matches I asked about are the rugby in the morning and United v Liverpool in the afternoon.

Sparta are playing Banik Ostrava and tickets can be purchased from the cash desk before the game.

Tickets cost from about €1.50 up to €8 and beer is on sale in the ground for about 50c. :)

whatever you do, don't miss the five floored nightclub (different music on each floor) which is right beside the charles bridge - on the Old Town side
    only 3 euros before nine
    5 euros after nine
    and 10 euros after ten
I went in just after nine and the place was already pretty full!
    stays open till 5.00am - a great night! :D
    mmmm cheap wodka

We got into the match. Five of us arrived first and bought stand tickets from a tout for 400.

About ten other lads got there just before kick off and had to pay 500 to get a steward to open up the exit gate into the hardcore home fans terrace. Brilliant atmosphere.

Saturday night we found a bar in the old town which just had "music bar" on the door. Cool bar upstairs and dj on downstairs. Met up with a hen from Leeds and a few girls from Sligo and stayed there until about 6 in the morning.

Great weekend but still wrecked. Wont be right until the weekend.

Nah it was the thursday we were there the first night so they were playing in Caffreys Irish Bar just off the square but the women were quality there aswell

we also had one guy who kept coming up to us about a strip club and who kept saying "strip club massage blo job" and after the fourth time saying it to us he realised he needed a new line to catch our interest so he walked up and said "strip club massage blo job smelly fanny"

    eeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww

We stayed in the Hotel Olsanka which is 4 or 5 stops from the city centre on the tram.

Work in a travel agency so booked it thru a tour operator we deal with.

Booked the airport transfer through info@prague-airport-shuttle.com
Just email them all the flight details, hotel and numbers and they will quote a price. Do not get taxis in Prague. Absolute rip off.

Went to a restaurant on the Saturday night which was excellent and great craic. http://www.cihelna.com/

Also be very careful in any of the strip/lapdancing joints. Make sure you know the prices before you go in. 24 of us went to one on Friday night and most left after the first drink it was so dear. Also two of the lads got caught for a huge bill on Saturday night.

They could just make a plane like that santa train and pretend to fly you to prague...and just take you to an irish pub in a part of dublin you hadn't seen before...wouldnt be any different really would it?

Charge you a 100 euros for the pretend flight and 50cents for drinks and you'd have a great time.

    Brilliant ****ing idea

    Retort

    Counter retort

    Reference to nerds

Counter reference to taking life too seriously

    this could go on

Yeah Bunny, shut up. This is a serious thread about Irish people who like travelling around the world to get drunk in Irish pubs with other Irish people.

    Go to Prague. Enjoy yourself.

But I learnt something there; it is about the only city in the world where there exists people that dont like us Irish.

    With cause.

We see it as a cheap drinking holiday. So drunk dirtbags wearing the Irish flag in a nightclub, with the shamrock shaved into their heads, tend not to go down too well in the nationalistic Czech Republic.

I had never been ashamed to be Irish before then.
