    Hi Alany
    You'll have to chip it.
    It will effect your warranty.
    Check this link for example.

DVD Region X will do it as well, it's just a cd you insert into the playstation, run it, pick a region & play it. It also sorts out the "green screen" problem you get when using RGB scart to connect (the preferred way to connect to tv).

Course this advice may well be out of date, it works fine on my playstation 2 but it's resonably old, bought early 2001. It doesn't work on my nephew's newer PS2, tho maybe there's an updated version of dvd region x out (www.codejunkies.com)

DVD playback on my playstation is barely adequate anyway, the sound goes out of sync regularly (requiring a pause/unpause to fix) and the picture quality isn't as good as the standalone i replaced it with. The fan noise fron the PS2 is a bit annoying during quiet parts of films too. Maybe they've resolved some of these issues with the newer PS2's.

[Edit]Looks like it's still going all right,

There was an updated driver disc bundled with the official PS2 Remote COntrol, which is supposed to iron out these issues. Maybe you could get the loan of the disc from someone with an official remote?
