    can anybody answer me this?

im running knoppix linux at the moment because i dont want to risk an install of red hat or the likes. (a friend of ine had a bad experience doing this).

i have a bit of work to do that requires me to be able to comile c code while running linux. ive looked around on knoppix for a compiler but so far i cant find one.

does anyone know if knoppix has a c/c++ compiler and if so what is it called?

i have already tried 'gcc' but it doesnt appear to be there. the copy of knoppix i have is german so that might have something to do with it.

i did think it was a little strange that gcc was not there cos its on most other versions of linux. are there any other ones that might be there??

    thanks for the reply capt'n
