I was thinking we should give a MUD a go.

I've done a very quick search and come up with the following possible ones, based on comments in the previous thread. If you've any suggestions put them down.

So any suggestions people. Just drop a link to the mud and the download location of the server. keeping in mind it'll be running linux.

a boards MUD sounds like a great idea i probably wont be able to join until after Xmass when i move back to dublin but pop my name down for it deffinatly

any idea on what type on game your going to run Rev or is it too early to say yet?

I've got Mordor Mud running atm just to test things out, I'll drop a link to it in a bit once I open up a port for it.

btw any suggestions for a port to allow those of you with firewals a chance to play. Anything bar 22 and 80

i'll run a port scan on our network and get back to you with any ports that are open ok

looks like i wont be allowed play from work and i dont have net access at home yet but i'll deff join in later

assuming you can recieve external pop mail, tis a bit bold but there u go.

I run a MUD.. if any ones intrested..

Insanity MUD. Ill link it with boards if people like... its only open a few weeks. Looking for MUD admins/builders/players etc..

i'd say our corprate systems are locked down, i've tried mutiple port scans (Nmap etc) and i cant find a flippin opening anywhere!!

sorry Rev i guess i'll have to wait until i move house B4 i can start playing MUD's but i'll PM you once im in busniess or i'll post here!

I've tried out both of those and they're not what I was looking for at all! Time for a bit of research me thinks...

heh ...MUDs ... I used to play/be an immortal/make areas/even do some admin on a CircleMUD 8 years ago ... and the fscking thing is still going, i cant believe it .... www.anotherworld.org ...there used to be as many as 200 - 300 peeps on at a time.... great community .. no player-killing etc, that only leads to pissed off players ....

Personally, I think that you should all join a established MUD at the same time and play together, there are a lot of headaches keeping a host up, keeping everything going smoothly, catching stupid bugs ..... and the hardest one of all - - - getting a large enough user base so that there is always some people on, MUD's die a death very fast if there arent enough people in my experience

I'm off to anotherworld for a look, see if some of the old peeps are there .......

Huff....I dunno...having now tried out a number of MUDs I have changed my mind AGAIN and decided I'm more interested in PBEM.

Seems to me there's a lot more scope for character and background development in PBEM even though it might be a bit more of a burden on the GM...PBEM being less automated.

That makes PBEM the winner in my books

ah but NWN can be very very char driven up to the players but the option is there,
and some of the story lines are fun in the modules.
