after a wee bit of posturing, O'sullivan has picked the strongest available Irish team. He's right to do so IMO, beating austrailia puts us into the semi's (sorry scotland).

    What do you think?

    Ireland team to play Australia on Saturday is: G Dempsey; S Horgan, B O'Driscoll, K Maggs, D Hickie; R O'Gara, P Stringer; R Corrigan, K Wood (captain), J Hayes, M O'Kelly, P O'Connell, S Easterby, K Gleeson, A Foley.

    Replacements: S Byrne, M Horan, D O'Callagham, E Miller, G Easterby, D Humphreys, J Kelly.

If we win we will obviously have a better chance of getting into the Semi's but we will then face New Zealand. If we lose and then beat France we will play England which would be a lot easier than New Zealand. But France would be a hard test so I would obviously prefer to win the group.

I was going to put a bet on Ireland to win the World Cup at the start at 50/1 and they are still at 50/1 so I will put a bit on that. Although Paddy Power must think we have no chance of winning the group as they don't even give odds on a England-Ireland final.
