    Hi,

I have a 7 " car tv and want to connect it to an outside aerial as the inbuilt one is fairly crap.

I will be connecting it up to a DVD etc in the car but i also want to be able to connect it to an outside aerial for odd time i want to tune into RTE.

Is it possible to connect it upto the existing FM aerial the is already connected to the radio i.e. split the aerial with a connector or something or would i have to get a totally seperate aerial?

    I have a 99 Astra BTW

    Tks

    Dwayne ,
Question for you , what does someone do with a TV screen in their car ? Do you live in the car or something ? How much did it cost to buy and install ? I'm not pulling the p*** , just curious as to what use they'd be to a driver ?

I can see it now -
" The government have announed that anyone caught watching TV while driving will have 4 points attached to their license "

    Hi,

    4 reasons i have it

    1. I got screen for €100 down from €400 (Bulk buy from work)

    2. Keeps my little brother entertained when playing playstation on long trips

    3. I go to college in the evening after work and its pointless driving home from work in the dorr for 2 mins and then back into college again therefore i just sit in the car for an hour and half instead of getting frustrated with traffic. And watchin the news or whatever would pass the time.

4 We are getting GPS systems at work on trial for our sales guys and they need screens

    Cheers

ah there's times in traffic when I would'nt mind watching a bit of Rte or Tv3, especially now with Pierse St being blocked from going straight on, its a nightmare.

I know a few people that have Dvd players in their cars, usually for the kids. There impressive bits of equipment

    thank you!!!

i thought i was being crazy and self indulgent!! well i suppose i am but in a few years everyone will have them and think nothing of it like having a radio in the car!!

To get a better reception for the TV station you need to use a dedicated TV aerial fitted on to the back screen(inside).

    No I am not

Have a look at your tv licence. there is a section for use in REG no: etc.

    Battery powered tvs are exempt.

well it is powered by the car battery so does that make it exepmt

what about all those people with motor homes/summer houses etc do they have a extra tv licence....doubt it!!!

    Powered by internal bateries.

Does anyone know what would be the best thing to do in order to get tv signal back in the car? I used to get the few channels on the aerial but now I guess I wont with the switch to saorview.
Is this just unfortunate or does anyone know of a solution? I am guessing that the regular saorview box would not be compatible, or would it?
    Thanks..
