Problems with ntl in Waterford

    Hi,

I have noticed some issues with the ntl service in Waterford and was wondering if they are the same in Dublin and Galway.
    • BBC, UTV and C4 on digital use the same feeds as the analogue service, and are not in anamorphic widescreen. This means that whenever ntl switch to the feeds sourced from Sky Digital we get the same 4.3 cropped pictures (and sometimes they switch to grainy feeds of BBC Wales/HTV!). I know they use a Sky Digibox for this because of the BBCi/red dot icons on screen.
    • On digital, the picture seems to be slightly stretched to the right side of the screen, with part of the picture being cut off. I first noticed this on TG4 as they have a logo in the right corner, and if you switch between the same channel on analogue and digital you can see that part of the screen is cut off at the right side, whereas the left side of the picture is in the same place on both platforms.
    • In Waterford there is a "Euromix" channel which switches between three European channels depending on a monthly schedule. On numerous occasions I have been watching the channel and seen it switch to the 'other channels' menu on a Sky Digibox, where someone at ntl changes it manually! What's more embarrassing is that usually the channel does not tune in first time, instead giving up the message 'no satellite signal is being received' - sometimes it is off-air for hours! Surely it would be easier to invest in a few FTA satellite boxes instead, as Sky Digiboxes are only really designed for channels that have an EPG placement (and are on Astra 28.2 E!).

    Regards,
    Glenn

    1. In Dublin the BBC, UTV and C4 are all in anamorphic widescreen on Digital.

    2. I've never had croping problems.

They're at it again right now! What a joke!
They're clearly using different digiboxes for each channel as the 'other channels' menu only shows the channel they are trying to tune in, and the EPG version is one of the early 'light-blue' versions.
