I heard that they were aiming for a PG-13 cert with this one.

May not be true.. but if it is, I never want to see it.

im not looking forwarsd to this film. first of all, judging by all recent sequels, its gonna suck. secondly im a pure aliens fan and i think the two franchises shouldd be kept apart. dont get me wrong predator was class, but id prefer another "normal" alien film

I believe this will be dire. Firstly it's being directed by Paul 'bad film' Anderson. Secondly has anyone read the plot description. It sounds ridiculous and childish. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to go for a PG-13 cert.

Damn ****, you guys are right, I should have known, they did the same thing to robocop:(

Since this movie is set in the present day

Jesus God NO!! This will would make a mockery of the Alien films! I mean if theres an Alien loose on Earth it would surely be able to build a hive very quickly given all the animals/humans /slums. If they're doing this they should defo go with one of the novels. Oh and a PG-13 Aliens film? Give me a break

on a side note, anyone ever read the alien vs. predator books. they are very Good.

Already happened in the books I read, Entire earth populated, however they were eradicated a few years after with a clever plan... which I wont discuss.

Could be an excellent film this.

Yes I've read all the books! Its the Present day part that should cause concern. The books make like Alien 3 never happened but change the charactors names (Except Ripley) . This would mean Earth Hive is based after The film Aliens NOT in 2004

Plus the scenes back on Earth during Aliens wouldnt make sense.
Remember the debrief where they boot Ripley out... the old bat saying:

To be perfectly frank, we've surveyed

over three hundred worlds and no one's

ever reported a creature which, using

    your words...

    (read from Ripley's

    statement)

...'gestates in a living human host'

    and has 'concentrated molecular acid

    for blood.'

How are they going to explain that? What... they forgot?!

    DeV.

This gripe doesn't really stand up, since following your logic, this scene doesn't make sense in context of the first Alien movie either... LV-426 is not only a planet they've surveyed, but they've actually gone and colonised, but they hadn't found anything.

Or maybe they knew what they were doing, they knew all about the alien, and are feigning innocence - this was even hinted at in the original Alien movie.

I think everyone needs to calm down and at least give this film the benefit of the doubt until there's something more to go on than a bunch of "I heard..".

Right, I'm assuming in Alien they don't know exactly what's on the planet but send Dallas, Kane, Ripley, etc. to survey what they know is probably a downed ship. The crew gets wiped out and Weyland-Yutani write the thing off...

Until 47 years later when Ripley returns and tells exactly what she saw there. And Burke, Carter J. then sends off the colonists ("you sent them there Burke! Why didn't you warn them!") and finds out the real value for the bio-weapons division.

Assumedly the fact that the woman is sceptical - "Are there any species like this on LV-426?""No it's a rock, no indigineous life forms." ... but that doesn't mean she knows. Any such attacks would be buried and only accessible by people we didn't see - not lackeys like vanLoeun and Burke!

I heard that the plot features a rich billionare - is his name Weyland or Yutani by any chance?

Gold star for this man right here.

Indeed there is, played by none other than Lance Henriksen.

Which ties it all together nicely :D

AICN have a quick review of the script.
On topic, the director makes nothing but crap. He ruins movies.
Don't bother getting your hopes up.

[rage]Just read that quick review and it hasn't made me feel any better! As pointed out "Prey" (The AvP book) Is actually pretty good. Why oh why couldnt they just make a film out of it instead of Paul W. S. Anderson's rubbish. It looks like They trying to mix Congo,Tomb Raider,Resident Evil then adding two of the best Science fiction Characters ever. Then to finish pissing on the the lot from a great height...hell no from SPACE![/rage]

This film is going to suck so damm much. Take one hell of a bad script + one awful fu*ing director = 1 raping of two really good movies. The budget for AvP is said to be pretty small by todays standards as well.

I'll end up going to see it, I'm sure, but I suspect I'd be more entertained watching someone play the game for three hours.

I'm looking forward to this in the same way I looked forward to Terminator 3. I think the film has some degree of potential and shouldn't be proclaimed as a write off especially at this early stage. Still though like most I would have preferred a setting like Prey instead of modern day earth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 767 ✭✭✭nesthead

as i far as im concerned it doesnt exist (like Terminator 3). forget about it. go to see it then disregard it completely as a film that has nothing to do with franchises its raping.

    DEATH TO THE CASH-IN!!!!!
    DEATH TO BAD SEQUELS!!!

    Little off topic but...

Alien : The Directors Cut, will be in cinemas soon. If you’ve never seen this film, Id recommend you go now, and experience it on the big screen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,005 ✭✭✭Creature

To be honest I couldn't care less if it doesn't turn out to be a bad film. I just want to see more of the Predator, two films just isn't enough for me. Not by a longshot.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 152 ✭✭avatar

ryo's right. I don't normally say this about films i haven't seen, but this film will be in a permanent state of sucking my left nut. you wanna see a film, go see alien in the cinema. In widescreen. In the dark. You know it'll rock. F**k this Anderson s**t. The books are cool, the game scared the bejesus outta me, but the film? no.

Hey just saw "Alien: Director's Cut" (it's BRILLIANT) and the teaser for "Alien vs Predator" is before it. It hardly shows anything at all but it's still interesting - the way the cut between the predator and the alien gets faster and faster with "scary" music. But go see it because the movie is fantastic on the big screen.
