Just heard that people have to install net filtering software on thier PC's or they cannot legally use the net (unless the ISP filters for them for a fee).

Is this for real?! Why wasn't anything done about it?

Seems to part of something bigger, defining an open standard on stuff for things like Net Nanny etc. Problem is at though mo that there's so many standards for blocking "dangerous" websites that it's effectivly useless. If there's one standard it, it won't be. And then governments can demand it at an ISP level.
