    Anyone recommend a non-resource hogger of a java ide

    netbeans
    and j builder..

    their so slow imo

    On Windows, if you're not looking for a UI-designer, then JCreator is - IMHO - the bomb.

    If you want UI design, though, then I'd say you have to settle for a resource-hog.

    Eclipse version 3.0 Just out recently. Way faster then version 2

    You can also disable parts to make it even less of a hog.

    Ant, cygwin and a decent text editor works for me.

    A friend of mine who's opinion I really respect on such matters (as by nature he's much more of a command line junkie than I am) swears by Eclipse.

    eclipse is the dogs bits allright.
    imho, if you really need a lightweight debugger then www.winedit.com is still the best

    JCreater is another alternative, but Eclipse gets another vote from me. Definetly good.
