Ive just bought an ADSL modem/router and want to set it up.....but the documentation is sh##. Ive previously had the Zyxel USB modem running it, but i need a step-but-step on how to set it up with the router. Never done one of these before.

Ive searched the forum but cant find any step-by-step :(

    Can anyone help?

    TIA

I presume you have an ethernet card installed in the PC? Use an ordinary ethernet cable to connect the router to the PC. Make sure your PC is set to "Obtain an IP address automatically". (Control Panel, Network, select your ethernet card, right click, select Properties, and double click on TCP/IP. The steps will be slightly different if you have Win9x or Win2K). If your PC gets a 10.0.0.something address, then it's talking to the router, if it gets a 169.254.something address, then it's not talking to the router, and you'll need to get that sorted out before going any further (use IPCONFIG at a command prompt to check your IP address, or WINIPCFG on Win9x).

Once you have a 10.0.0.something address, point your Web Browser at http://10.0.0.2 and you should get to the front panel of the router. You'll have to go back to their instructions at that point, though, cos I can't find anything specific about that box on the web.

I got it sorted - dont ask me how, but i got it sorted! :D

At first it wouldnt let me access the 10.0.0.2, no idea why - but when i disabled all the other network & dialup settings it finally worked. A bit of searching online i picked up some of the eircom settings and with an amazing bit of luck i have 2 PCs, 1 DSL line and net access on both!

    Thanks
