Gotta pick up a new phone. I've been using Nokias for years and really love them. I don't think any other brand has managed to match them for ease of use and simplicity.

Anyways, I was in town a few weeks ago and i saw the Nokia 6610 and 6100s. Decided I would go in a pick up the 6610 for E99 (how do you do the Euro symbol). Planned on changing over from Speakeasy so I could get the phone. Had never done it before because they never let you keep the number.

Got in and found out the prices had gone up by E100!! Not happy. So now I've decided to pick a Sim Free handset off the net.

These are the one's i'm looking at:
    Nokia 6610
    Nokia 6100
    Sony Ericsson T300
Sony Ericsson T610 - maybe, its a bit expensive.

I'm gonna concentrate ont he Nokia models but am open to suggestions.

    Any recommendations?

    TIA

I have the 7210 which is virtually the same as the the 6610 and 6100 and dislike it. I keep trying to force myself to use it but cant last more than a day before switching back to the 7650.

Many a godo word has been said about the T610 though.

Yeah, I got a T610 from the UK a while back, can't say I regret it!

    what about the T300?

Has anyone got one they can give an objective opinion on? It seems the best value vs feature choice.

On the subject does anyone know of any good review sites for mobiles?

www.mobiledia.com does good reviews, as does www.mobile-review.com

The T300 is pretty good, but it has a smaller screen resolution to most new phones, especially the T610. That said, if I'd needed a new phone this time last year, it would've been the one I'd go for. The T610 beats it at the moment for me! I've been using one for about 2 months and its pretty good.

I had a T300 for about 6 months. It's a good phone if you don't like nokias. Battery life is good and well....my only complaint was the camera. Absolute rubbish! Admittedly the dreadful screen on the phone isn't going to do any camera justice, but it's really not too hot. The phone OS itself is also rather dated and pixelly looking in comparison to newer, more high end phones.

Got a T610 last month for free on O2 UK, it is BRILLIANT. Camera is really really good for a phone, the screen res is fantastic, there are decent games for it, the reaction time of the phone when scrolling through menu's is greatly improved. Can't fault it at all. I'll attach a photo I took with it last week.

I think the T610 is really outside my budget. It would cost E380 altogether including delivery and VAT. That seems a lot for a phone that I don't even get a contract with (ie no free call credit or texts - I'd be putting my Speakeasy card in).

What I'm looking for is a similar phone, i really like the Sony Ericssons but the T300 does look a bit dated now I guess. I want to get colour phone with Polyphonic ringtones. Guess I'll have to look a the Nokia's again.

SE they have a T310 (launched in March) which was a replacement for the T300 - expansys.com still have some in stock (mphone.co.uk were reporting it as discontinued - although SE still have it promoed on the site)
    http://www.sonyericsson.com/t310/

SE announced a 200 series back in Sept which might suit you better... due for release before the end of the year

    a T230 candy-bar form factor

or the Z200 which is a clam shell model

Hey thanks for those links. The T230 looks slick and I think would be a good buy. Any idea how much they'll sell for.

I went onto Ebay to have a quick look at the T610s. You can pick one up for under £200 (about E290). Do you get hit for any extra charges buying from the U.K? I think if I was buying I'd do it that way.

Gonna have a quick look on the web now to see when the T230 is due out.
