SENSATIONAL FILM ABOUT US-BACKED COUP HITS US THEATRES

?THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED?
    A documentary film
By Donnacha O Briain & Kim Bartley

HUGO CHAVEZ ELECTED PRESIDENT OF VENEZUELA IN 1998, IS A COLORFUL,
UNPREDICTABLE FOLK HERO, beloved by his nation?s working class ? and a
tough-as-nails, quixotic opponent to the power structure that would see him
deposed. Two independent filmmakers were inside the presidential palace on
April 11, 2002, when he was forcibly removed from office. They were also
present 48 hours later when, remarkably, he returned to power amid jubilant
supporters. Their film records what was probably history?s shortest-lived
coup d?état. It?s a unique document about political muscle, media
manipulation, people power, and an extraordinary portrait of the man The
Wall Street Journal credits with making Venezuela ?Washington?s biggest
Latin American headache after the old standby, Cuba.?

Coming soon to the following theatres for one week only:

SAN FRANCISCO - Venue: The Castro Theatre, opens October 24th
CHICAGO - Venue: Landmark's Century Centre Cinema, opens October 31st.
NEW YORK - Venue: The Film Forum, opens November 5th.
LOS ANGELES - Venue: Landmark's Nuart Cinema, November 21st.

This is an important film. If it is successful at the above four venues it
will be taken up by other theatres around the United States. Please help to
ensure that this very important film is seen as widely as possible. Go
during the first week and bring your friends.

The makers were in DCU recently (or maybe it hasn't happened yet) for a screening and a talk on the documantary.
