    I shudder and laugh..

"find out how body confident you are"

    lol.

    equivalent to:

"have you any braincells take this test and find out" IMO

    Ah, yes Handbag.

It's quite scary the number of popups and cookies one is subjected to when visiting this site.

I sometimes lurk on the forums when I'm very, very bored. They're a bit stereotypically girly, but there are a few decent sub-communities there. No thanks to the people who run the site that is.

HB would make a great case study on how *not* to administer an online community. Or maybe it would if the mods didn't occasionally go through the posts and cull them with little or no warning, hence making the archive search even more useless than it already is. That’s a pity because for those so inclined the level of expertise on certain topics such as beauty would be on par with technology here. The admins can’t seem to see how this would be a selling point for their site and hence the same questions tend to be rehashed ad nauseum, much to the frustration of those who stick around and try to help others out.

Over the past year they introduced a series of changes which made the site near impossible to navigate and ignored almost all user feedback. I’ve *never* seen a mod respond to anyone’s posts or approve any suggested forums, even those that would have enhanced the site greatly. It took months to even get them to put back the page numbers at the bottom of threads for instance-I suspect the idea was readers would have to scroll up to the top of the page each time and view yet more ads.

Moderating really seems to be a 9-5 job there. I’ve seen the most vile stuff posted in some of the forums and it tends to get left there especially at weekends. These days the site seems to be down nearly every time I go there and a lot of the regulars have absconded and set up their own replica forums.

I’ve heard rumours that the site is in a lot of financial trouble-can’t really think why…

I took the body confident quiz:

    Level-headed and practical
You've never really invested too much in your looks and that suits you. You're level-headed and practical. You like to keep quite a nice body, but it's not the main thing in your life – or your partner's. You have a rounded sense of your self-worth. Don't be too sensible though. You can still get a body boost by slapping on some fake tan or scented moisturiser, instead of major renovation like cosmetic surgery. Make time for some top-to-toe pampering - and feel your confidence soar. You might like what it does for you more than you think.

    Not so lovely Beru

I answered the quiz on the basis that I'm a woman who's dissatisfied with my looks, feel fat, would feel so much better if I lost a stone but haven't got the bottle to actually do it and have a boyfriend that wants to have sex with everyone else.

    Result:
    Lacking in confidence
You feel your body needs a bit of help. Join the club! Lacking self-confidence or satisfaction in our bodies is extremely common. You're quite normal. So don't be hard on yourself – or others. Try not to compare yourself with the idealised images we all see every day in the media. Remember they're probably very young, computer-enhanced or professional models whose bodies are their livelihood. Simple measures like healthier eating and having everyday exercise - such as taking a brisk walk or using the stairs instead of the lift - will make you look and feel better. Act confident and you're half way to being confident!
Tomorrow I'm going to think and act thin and see if it has the same result.

That survey is awful crud to be honest.

    DeV.

You may be happy for your hair to explore it's sexuality but not me. I must repress it's deviancy. For the good of mankind.
