I bought an english version 2 FTA card which was not married to any box - the guy that i got it from said it worked in his box but ITV, Ch4 and Ch5 had to be added through other channels
when i try to add the channels i get the following message
'this viewing card is not authorised call the broadcaster for assistance' (i also have another FTA card which works this way - ITV etc are not on the EPG but can be added in other channels)
    any ideas or suggestions appreciated
    cheers
    purkey

Keep the card in for at least 24 hours untill it gets the signal and it should be fine.:D

If the FTV card has not been married to a box then it is pretty much useless.

Once a FTV card has been married to a box it will work in any other digibox.

I don't think it is possible to get the cards activated any more.

Hope you didn't spend too much buying the card :(.

Leaving it in the box 24 hours will not do anything.

i also have another FTA card which is not married to any box
and it works in my digibox - but you have to add ITV CH4 and CH5 in the other channels section - they don't appear on the EPG

You can use anything as a FTA card. But FTV cards need to be UK Sky cards. :D

    Don't confuse "Married" and "Activated"

For FTV only BBC was ever "married", i.e. to move it you had to ring sky with old and new box details.

For PAY TV, mostly it is Premium and Irish channels that are "married" to a box.

Getting a new card to go is "Activation", not "marriage". Some suggest it can still be done automatically with a phone line on Digibox via Services 4 0 1 Select and New Install.

I don't know personally if this is true.

can i do a 'new install' on the UK FTA card or would it have to be done while connected to a UK phone line

I'd guess that if it works still at all:
    1) UK Phone line
    OR
    2) Gadget/service that makes call look like it is on a UK phone line (Such devices exist).

Are you sure it is a FTV card and not an ex UK sub card (They both look the same)

Easy way to find out - if it's an FTV card the telephone number on the card will be 08702 438000

Is the whole FTV card situation changing:( In the UK to view Itv/C4/C5 they have to buy a £20 card. Does anyone know how we can get our hands on the new cards ;)

It is if you don't already have a card and want one. If you already have a V2 FTV card, your own situation won't change in the next few years (probably).
