ADSL and Caller Display

I've had a seperate caller display unit for years now since I couldn't be bothered forking out for a phone that includes it. It was working fine until I had ADSL installed from Esat so I presume it's because of the filter.

I found this page which mentions that certain filters will stop caller display units working, but that's for BT in the UK.

Has anyone else experienced this? It's a fairly old unit so perhaps a newer one wouldn't have the same problem? Also there might be a filter out there compatible with both Esat and caller display?

    Thanks,
    PT

Filters increase the capacitance (the stored electrical charge) on your phone line. Caller ID works by sending a signal between ringing intervals via frequency shift keying, which can be affected by higher capacitance. If the capacitance is too high, the Caller ID unit will not be able to read the incoming signal.

What you need is a dynamic filter eg Excelsus Z-275P2J. This DSL Filter is only activated when the phone is off the hook, minimising capacitance and allowing the Caller ID signal to pass through more easily.

We don't have any of these currently in stock but if your interested can get them in there not cheap at €14.99 (Free Shipping) at DSL Filters Direct.com
