Now that the summer sun has all but faded and the dark damp evenings close in a little more each day, please take the time to considder your elderly neighbours. Every year a number of elderly people die simply because they are too cold or are not well enough to fetch a bucket of coal from the shed and therfore forego a fire for the evening. If you see an edlerly neighbour out during the day if you can take the time to ask them if everything is ok or if it's a bad evening weatherwise maybe you could fetch something from the shop for them particularly if your going that way anyway. It might not be much to you but it could mean the world of differance to them and remember we may all be in that situation eventually.

It is going to be critiacal this year as there is apparently and outbreak of the Infuenza A flu virus this Winter. 10 to 40% of people are expected to get it according to Nurses who are afraid that A and E departments will be overwhelmed by the outbreak. Since the elderly are more vulnerable to sickness it is important to keep in touch with elderly relatives and help them if they do fall into ill-health.
