I was just standing out on the street smoking a ciggie, watching the cars pass by.
I saw a golf approaching, and noticed it veer sharply into the curb, then straighten up.
As it passed by me, I noticed the lady driving it was on her mobile. Not only that, but she was still looking in the mirror whilst fixing her fucking hair!! Both hands off the wheel!

I suppose it takes all types.

Similar thing happened to me on my way in for a train this morn. A woman fixing her hair driving at 55mph.
What can you say? Maybe theres a reason why men are involved in more accidents!

Probably because we drive faster and take more risks? Mayhaps?

Not based on the stories above. And yes I know there are a 1,000 other stories about male drivers. Yawn Yawn. But the high cost of insurance for men is probably because more men drive , abnd hence more men are involved in accidents. However I would contend (and this is not a flame BTW), that women are the cause of more accidents then men.

OK. Bring on the smart-ass comments

The reasons the statistics indicate that more male drivers have accidents is that most women are on their husbands/boyfriends/daddies policies as name drivers. Thus when they have accidents the policy holders name goes on the claim form.................Mr. ********* :D:D

One of my pet peaves (sp?) is thank you signals. My instructor always told me it was good manners to thank other road users if they let you pull out etc etc. I'm sure he told all his male...AND FEMALE students the same. Why is it only the lads that do it then. 9 out of 10 fella's will wave a thank you for letting them out. 9 out of 10 ladies completely ignore you. "I'm not going to be anyones 'little woman' by waving thank you...." Girls this isn't part of the battle of the sexes......its just good manners!

I reckon women have the same attitude towards driving as they do towards video recorders. ie "Sure I only need to know how to press play, pause and stop, I don't need to know how to program the timer" etc etc........."Sure I only need to know how to make the car go and stop, I don't need to know how to change a tyre, have good manners on the road, change gear properly, indicate properly, parallel park, reverse, have a full licence rather than a provisional, know the rules of the road......" etc etc.

Theres's a big difference girls. The video is a household appliance which only becomes dangerous if you spill your tea over it while watching pop idol and anyway you can get your husband/boyfreind/daddy to work it properly for you. On the other hand, you are in sole control of a car which is a 2 tonne killing machine. There's a big difference. MeThinks you should pay more attention to the intricasies and minuatae of driving. M'Kay :D:D:D

I've noticed that fewer people of either sex signal thank you when I allow them to merge on the highway ahead of me, or give them a chance to do whatever they need to do in a safe manner.
I find it annoying too - I didn't have do a thing for them. I always wave a thank you when someone helps me - no one has to be nice to you, but when they are they deserve acknowledgment.

No, no, no, you're dead wrong. For example, I'm the one that's teaching everyone at home how to program the VCR, set the timer, and lately, show everyone how to use the DVD player without going insane. LOL!

Wait til junior sticks a peanut butter sandwich in it and no man can fix it - or will want to touch it.

Everyone could use a refresher course in rules of the road and general good manners. No need to sink to the level of people that have no manners at all - though it's tempting.

I kinda on both sides here, there are a lot of women drivers out there who are overly cautious, ie won't pull out onto a roundabout or junction for 5 mins, or drive their car into a small gap.

But I think bad manners and just plain ignorant behaviour is pretty common to both sexes. In fact, I would say even that is more common among males. In the last while, I've seen men drive up the inside on the hard shoulder coming up to a roundabout (x 3 in the last month or so) and two of these had children in the back seat. How stupid can you be?

Though, I've also seen a lot of women with young children in the front seat. Are they not aware that it's illegal for a child under twelve to be in the fron seat, unless in a correctly fastened rear facing child seat.

I had a girl go into the back of my car a few years ago.

I was stopped at a red light and looked in my rear view mirror and saw her approaching slowly and also putting on lipstick using her rear view mirror. She obviously didnt see that the lights were red and traffic was stopped so into the back of me she went.
