As of late I have been getting very annoyed with the performance of pc's in general so I have almost decided to by a mac(the 17inch imac to be precise) but I was just wondering before I buy if there is anything i should know. Are they realible easy to use etc.... You know pros and cons. I have used mac's occasionaly and my gf has an ibook which i find quite good

Should I buy or should I go on a two week bender???

I'd say go for it! The new 17-inch model includes 256Mbyte of DDR SD RAM memory running at 333Mhz and an 80Gbyte Ultra ATA/100 HDD. It has an Nvidia Geforce FX5200 Ultra graphics processor with 64Mbyte of DDR video memory.

The flat panel display is freestanding which can be adjusted with a single touch. It offers two FireWire 400 and three high-speed USB 2.0 ports for fast connections with digital cameras, DV cameras, the iPos portable player and the iSight web cam.

It has support for 54Mbit/s AirPort Extreme 802.11g wireless networking and along with the Mac OSX operating system and the iLife suite of apps for photo, music and movie editing. It also comes with titles including Quicken 2003 Deluxe, World Book 2003 Edition and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4.

Mac's are more stable, cause less trouble and are more secure then windows PC's and plus i think Mac's look more fun. mm i think i'll go and buy one myself after that!

From a disillusioned ex PC'er I say GO FOR IT ! I made the change two years ago and don't regret it for a second. No more faffing around with drivers and sh*t. Just turn it on and enjoy.

iMovie is infinitely better than windows movie maker.
iTunes makes anything windows offers look like an AM radio.
iDVD works flawlessly and offers just the right blend of easy to use and features.
    Virus . . what virus ???

The beauty is these all come as standard with the OS.

Oh and the iMac looks way cooler than a beige box. The 17" display is of excellent quality and the build quality just ooozes . . WOW !!

You should wait until Panther is officially released (24th Oct) and then buy your iMac. It's a new version of system software (10.3) which you'd probably have to pay for otherwise.

Macs bought on or after October 8th (I think) are entitled to a free upgrade to Panther when it's released.

IMO you should maybe take a look at the 15" PowerBook check it out here

    http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/irl/

For about €500 more you get the BEST portable on the market. One thing regardless of what you choose always but the largest storage you can afford cos no matter what you think you WILL fill it up

Well I finally decided to get an imac. Im gonna get the 17" with bluetooth, 512 mhz ddr, a 160gig HD, wireless keyboard & mouse & the JBL speakers. Should fit in nicely with my iPod

Can't wait to get it now although I'm going to wait 10days to order so that I can get panter as the OS as otherwise I would have to pay for postage & packaging to get it which I won't be able to afford after buying my mac :)

I'd go somewhere where you're not going to get biased opinions.
