    Howdy,

    has anybody got this application who can email it to me.
    Description - Desktop Text;

    Desktop Text will enable you, as an O2 customer, to send text messages from your PC to any mobile (National or International).
    It makes texting a very simple, fast and cost effective way of communicating key messages to one or several people.

    You can get it from the O2.ie web site. You have to be as O2 customer (bill pay afaik) to use it as all the SMS sent are charged to your account.

    It's free. Free messaging from your PC basically and you can send a message to up to 200 people simultaneously. The website section is down and has been for a few days hence my request as I need to do what I've just mentioned!!

    I'm afraid that it is not free. The following is taken from the .pdf brochure http://www1.o2.ie/CM/getcontent/0,1177,pdf_destop_text,00.pdf :
    “Is it expensive to set up and run?”
    On the contrary, it is free to download and set up
    the service, and you are charged your standard price
    plan rate for each text message.

    The brochure says it costs money. But they've bucked up before. Has anyone used this for free? I love getting stuff for free.

    Could cost; I'm not sure as I'm having trouble installing it. It keeps failing to install; tells me to install MS Outlook as my default mail even though it is installed.

    AFAIK it becomes an integral part of MS Outlook. When you go to a contact you will have the option of sending an email or sending a SMS. Even though you may have MS Outlook - as opposed to Outlook Express - resident on your machine you will need to have it active and set as your default email client.
