Broadband in the UK

For the sake of argument, if I was living in the UK and wanted to get BB, who would be the best to go for?

My primary concerns about providers would be:
    • Not much hassle setup wise
    • Full support in case something goes haywire
    • Reliability
    • SMTP Access

I don't think I'd go for AOL due to their reliance on the AOL client, any other suggestions?

Go here - lots of UK info, and some pretty good forums too.

Man id love if eircom did a 2mb service like Blue yonders 2MB option. 2mb download and 256K upload, low pings, no cap, no throttling, no hassles and its avliable everywhere.
/me then suddenly wakes up to find himself dialing up to 31K :(
    cruel cruel world

Erm it's not available everwhere. It utilises telewest broadband, which is a cable service and most definitely is NOT everywhere. NTl is in 'incumbent' in the cable area in the UK and even they don't have *that* wide a coverage. Would be nice to have, though.

Original poster - i'm going to go for Nildram or Bulldog myself, as both offer 1mb uncapped dsl for £30-35 per month. Yes, that's around what you're paying here for iol/utv/eircom bband :)

Alternatively, virgin is pretty good AND has a minimum contract period of only one month.
