I want to upgrade my phone and get a 3650, im on Vodafones Performer plan, which i think may be the highest personal tarrif, im not too sure.

The only thing is, i havent time to goto a vodafone shop. Is it possible to upgrade online or over the phone and have the value of the phone come off my next bill? Also, is it advisable to upgrade online?

Yes, you should be able to upgrade online using My Vodafone. I've done so twice.

The first time the website wouldn't work for some reason and a customer services rep confirmed my order over the phone. You have a choice of paying by credit card or adding the cost of the phone to your next bill. You may also be entitled to a discount off the upgrade price depending on how much you have spent on calls.

I can't really compare it with upgrading instore as I've only ever done so online/by phone. The free delivery by courier is handy for those of us who live out in the sticks. :)

The staus on vodafone.ie is now "Order has been picked"...i stated in my devilery note for it to be delivered after 5pm, there wont be anyone in the house otherwise. Am i likely to get it tonight? i ordered it at 8pm Saturday.

Will they phone/email before hand or just arrive?

When they left me on hold for 25mins earlier it was, yes. Thanks for your input. Very Helpful.

Well they told me it should be delivered the next day, but it took two days both times. Maybe that's because I'm out in the country.

The couriers rang beforehand, but that was just for directions to the house. They turned up half an hour after the call-once I actually convinced them to come to my house and not drop the phones at a shop ten miles away. I'm not exactly in the middle of nowhere either...

I'd normally give it two working days.

All of Vodafone's deliveries are handled by 20-20 Logistics in Sandyford afaik, just for future reference :)

On the vodafone website it says my order is delivered. I rang them and they said its in the van, but they stop delivering at 6.

The phone still hasnt arrived. I should have got it Monday. I have been ringing them the last 2 days. The guy i got yesterday was great, Steven was his name. He was ringing the curriers all day and then getting back to me with the status. Apparently they couldnt contact the driver that had the phone. He is due to ring me shortly with a deffinate time for this evening. I'll be really pissed if i dont get it tonight.

Time for a stiff letter to vodafone, threatening legal action unless you get your phone soon.

Any sign of the phone Duritz?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 141 ✭✭Duritz

Nope. It was scheduled to be delivered at 4.30 on thrusday...arrived home to find a "You were not in when we called" at 4.20.

I rang couriers as opposed to vodafone and they said they tried to deliver at 2.30 on monday, 2.20 tuesday and 3pm on wednesday.

Yet, they never left a note saying they called. Weird. Also, my delivery note says "Mon to Fri after 5PM"...when i asked the girl on the fone why they tried 3 times to deliver to a house they knew would be empty, her reply was "we dont deliver after 5pm", why didnt they ring me to say that when they recieved the phone to their company on MONDAY!?

It is a joke at this stage. The guy at vodafone, Steven, is a good guy, he is trying. The couriers are just really bad.

When faced with this situation i gave them my sons school address in glassnevin (near town) as there would be someone there all day untill they stopped dilevery, but to no avail.

I have reasons to believe they are spoofing me, because i find it extremely odd they wouldnt put something in my door on Monday and Tuesday to say they called, and also, why would they call at 2ish if the note said 5? I was in ALLLLL day wednesday, they said they called, but they didnt. Cant accuse them though, or i might never see my phone.

It is now an hour and a half short of 1 Week when i ordered the fone. I offered to collect it today but they wouldnt let me. Even though people were at the office.

Got that courier are one shower of useless bastards.. Try to get the couriers number and just call them yourself, that will solve the prob pretty much straight away. Well it has in the past.

As for delivering after 5, the courier probably ignored that request on the basis that it was convenient for him. I would be inclined to believe them. I would imagine that the contract they have with Vodafone is quite substantial and if they lied persistently like this, Vodafone would take their business elsewhere. I know for a fact that Vodafone did make and still do make a big deal that the courier is up to scratch.

To be honest, i dont use courier much, but i thought it was common practise to notify people via a leaflet in the door when they called.

Also, on the leaflet i got on THURSDAY it has a box to tick (it wasnt ticked on my leaflet) "We have tried to deliver this 3 times and it will now be held at our depot for collection"....if it was their FORTH attempt why did they ask me to "Ring and re-arrange"..??...doesnt make sense. When i rang the courier office to "re arrange" i was told that you cant arrange times for them to be there, they simply arrive when it suits them. Why they couldnt have phoned me on monday and told me, i dont know. They dont make sense. I would have thought vodafone cud have picked a courier which offers an after business hours service. How many of you be in you house between 9 and 5??

@jesus_thats_gre : Do you mean the actual driver? i have been onto the courier office, and they havent been helpful. Been passed around the office and never given a straight answer.

At this stage it is time to cut the bull****.

See my previous post and send vodafone an ultimatum. No phone within 24 hours of receipt of letter off to the courts.

Out line your story in great detail. Include order numbers who you spoke to ,dates times etc. Specify you will go to court if the phone is not delivered within 24 hours of receipt of letter. Also state you will submit the letter as evidence to the court. Send by Registered post and I can gaurantee you will have your phone within 24 hours and a few euros in compensation. Don't forget you have had aggrevation and losses.

I am sure they will surrender.

Only problem is, i dont think i have paid for it. I chose to have it come off my monthly bill. MyVodafone is having problems and wont let me view my bill. What stance do i have? can they just say you havent paid for it yet, so why are you notifying the courts, or would it have been added to my bill on dispatch from vodafone?

You can be sure they have charged your bill. If they claim its dispatched then they have charged you for sure. You have the same rights as I outlined in the earlier posts. IE you have paid for something that they (Vodafone) havent delivered.

Something similar happened to me a few months back and nothing was done until I wrote them a stinking letter threatening the courts. They copped themseleves on and delivered within 24 hours.

Might be no harm to ring 1907 and ask if it is on your bill.

I would give them a call to verify as to whether they actually applied it to your bill yet. Seeing that Bond is pushing you towards sending a narky letter, you might want to consider the fact that you have not actually handed over any money at all for it. You dont even know whether you have been billed for it.

However, by all means give them a call and ****k them off from a height. You have been messed about it seems and that is not acceptable.

Let me just clarify myself. I said send the letter only if they have charged you.
Seeing as they have messed you around it is only fair that they offer some remedy for their cock up. You have spent time hanging around waiting for them to deliver. It is only fair they admit their fault and offer a gesture of goodwill.

I have found in my experience those you speak to on the phone either wont offer compensation or are not allowed to do so. These just stick to the party line. The only way to get something is to write to them.

Keep us posted as to developments.

I have a letter ready to go. myVodafone wont let me view my bill, or anything to do with my account. is anyone else having problems with this service?

I have letters ready to go to Paul Donovan (Chief Executive of Vodafone, Ireland), Marianne Dorney (Customer Relationship Marketing of Vodafone, Ireland), and Carmel Foley (Director of Consumer Affairs, Ireland).

It is unaccecptable that Vodafone mislead people like this. On the news letter i got it said "place your order and your mobile will be delivered to your door within 48hours"...but if you place an order on friday, you wont get it by sunday, because their courier company dont deliver on weekends. That is misleading information. Doesnt say two working days or anything, 48 Hours. It is a lie.

I will deffinately be sending them a letter regarding this. Wether or not i complain about my ordeal will depend on if it has been charged to me. I would say it has been, once it leaves vodafone i'd say they charge to the bill. On submitting the upgrade form it was made clear i was signing a 12 month contract, so i cant really say im going to o2 without it costing me a fortune!

I am sure they will give in easily as they dont like messy court cases with vodafone in the public arena. As you havent got your phone you can get of the contract without penalty, basic contract law.

If they have charged you then a contract exists between you and vodafone ie, you paid for a phone they havent delivered. Vodafone are then in breach of contract.

Give them till tomorrow and then shoot off a letter.

I've got two upgrades from their site. It took two days in both cases. I agree though that in general couriers are useless. I've had to chase down deliveries a number of times when getting stuff from other places than Vodafone.

Incidentally the Vodafone site, at least part you need to get into to get upgrades and see your account is usually not working. I dunno who runs that part of their website but its dire. I mean its not like they have a vast range thats constantly changing. Its pretty much unchanged for months. Apart from the phone prices going up every so often.
