Just a word of warning to web shoppers. I purchased an mp3 player from digimania.be about 7 months ago. It stopped working during my exams in May so I didn't do anything about it to recently.

They have a returns address, which I mailed asking for proceedure etc. I got no reply. I mailed them again from the original account/email address. Still nothing.

I contacted their HR department (also via email), and still no reply. I've contacted technical support complaining about the problems with the device and also received no reply.

It's been a week since I last contacted them, and I'm going to ring them tomorrow. But I thought I'd let people know that this is a company thats has very good communication skills - until they have your money.

Had the same problem with Dell, and I booked a holiday through lastminute.com during the summer and got no tickets! They also will not reply to me!. My solicitor said do not buy big expensive items from net.

Well Dr.Dre, if you when through the worst two experiences I've had in a long, long time you too would be hesitant buying from dell of lastminute.com. I had a thread about that nitemare statr to the holiday (Drove to Dublin from Kerry) No tickets at airport after they telling me they were there. Rang them 3 times (costing over 30E!) so that the reps could tell me they'd ring me back and they didnt. That was back in Aug, and they still ignoring my letters and complaints.

With dell, they sent me a comp with a blown graphics card and faulty speakers. Spent time & money to as/sholes in india that didnt know their arse from their elbow. Had to sue them eventually, hence the solicitor.

Now, Im not saying not to buy big expensive things from net, maybe I should have send not to get a dell and book a holiday from TravelSelect.com.

I bought an amp from www.homecinemaheaven.com in the U.K 18 months ago.
Last sunday it went on fire when I turned it on.
There was a 2 year guarantee and when I phoned the Dublin Marantz agent about it, they recognised the guarantee straight away and sent a securicor van to collect it for repair/replacement free of charge :)

They only problems that I've ever had with online shopping would have to be with www.easons.ie.

I order six books and received just two. The first two came within a week, so I sent an email asking about the other four books. A week or so later I received an email saying that they're currently out of print and will be despatched in two weeks.

Six weeks after ordering with no sign, I send another email. The reply said that two of the remaining four were out of print, and that they'd sent me an email confirming this some three weeks prior - bull$hitting bastards didn't. Then some eight weeks after my initial order I received an email saying the final two are out of print and that they had sent emails stating this - lying once again. It took them 8 weeks to cancel the order, even though when I ordered it said that all six books were in stock.

I then went off to amazon.co.uk and had all four books within 7 days.

Dr. Dre was right -

Both Dell and Lastminute.com are well known companies, so to me what your solicitor said could nearly be translated into don't buy expensive items at all - you should not keep writing to them your solicitor should.

I tried to buy a laptop off dell about 3 years ago and it was a disaster and I had to cancel (although I had had to order online about 3 times and they claimed each time they had no record of the transaction....). Haven't heard a good word about them in a long time. Classic example of a company selling itself on a good image it has long since lost.

Never had any other problems buying stuff online at all really.
I wouldn't listen to your solicitor....so long as you buy stuff on your credit card you'll be covered 99% of the time...

That’s a good point – you should make sure your cc is covered for internet transaction, then just go to some other site if you’re having problems.

Anyway, I wouldn’t buy off Dell because of their high prices and lack of any real flexible.
