Actually, I haven't seen this before.. it looks really cool ... does anyone have some info on how much it would cost to hook up to the WAN? ... I'm in Hartstown/clonsilla (D15).. so is it even possible for me to connect to the WAN?

Equipment costs will run you about €100 - 150 depending on your choice of gear. You need a wireless card or USB client with an external antenna connection, an antenna to go on your roof and cable to connect the two.
AFAIK there are active nodes around Clonsilla. Check out the Dublin forum on www.irishwan.org/board/ and don't hesitate to post expressing your interest or asking any questions. Everybody involved is more than helpful and will help you source the correct gear and install it. Many node operators are sharing their broadband connections for a contribution towards costs which works out cheaper than any other option for all concerned.
Ask here or there and we'll try to help you out.
