Why the BBC is FTA, supports the ITV merger and has BBC3 and BBC4

    Note:

    BBC committed to a UNIVERSAL platform, available to all (Not just Terrestrial, or Cable, or Satellite or those who can afford Pay TV. Implicit in this is FTA on Satellite).

    BBC see merger of smaller media groups as nesscesary and enivitable.

    BBC see Tivo like viewing (USA Tivo is like Sky+ with Pay TV Digital decoder built in) inevitable and a threat to conventional Commercial Broadcasters.

    With its predominantly imported programming BSKyB, not ITV is now seen as the important to counter competiton.


    All this in a nearly 4 year old speech ......

    Check out lots more interesting stuff rather than the illinformed reporting on certain Media newspapers.
