    Hi all,

just want to know if anyone has any marketing terms that annoy them, such as:

    REVAMP

    STREAMLINE

BALL IS IN YOUR COURT (heard just the other day in normal speech, AAAARRRGGGGHHH)

    Tanx.

    :D:D:D

    My personal favourite (read:AAAGGGGHHH!).

    "GOING FORWARD".

    also:

    "Park that issue".
    "Take this discussion off-line".

    proactive

More the people who use it over and over again than the word

And synergy (even though real people use that one now)

    Mark-up
in the context of pricing it's wonderful to think how much companies make on mineral water or perfume or CDs. Of course they will justify it by saying that that price is what the 'market' dictates.

"Let's ensure we're all singing from the same hymnsheet"

(Time to call in the Boards Ninjas to kick the shit out of whoever spews this sort of verbal sewage)

how about "Picking the low hanging fruit" ...yep it was said in a meeting ... Mad Eye Mike (a director where I work) has a whole heap of these strange ones ... we all reckoned that he had a special Business Lingo book and he pored over it for hours learning these obtuse, stupid sayings

Hey look, it's an "I'm a peon in the workplace and I shall vent my anger at people more successful than me by mocking the language they use" thread...

(Some management phrases are ridiculous and simpler words could be used more effectively. Others are incredibly useful - a phrase set that has evolved to provide for the needs of a modern business environment effectively. Of course, it also makes something for the peons to moan about - since if they poke fun at how much more their bosses are paid and how much nicer the cars they drive are, they'll just depress themselves...)
